Hey all,
I was musing a bit on the What's Better, DR or Miss chance (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?473757-What-s-Better-DR-or-miss-chance) thread, and got to wondering:
How many weapon properties out there work while wielded (or stay active indefinitely once activated), and don't require you to attack with the weapon or spend a standard action on the property? Your basic humanoid can, if they spend the coin, wield a rather large number of weapons at once, after all (say... armor spikes, two hand crossbows each of which has a hand crossbow blade (Complete Scoundrel), two boot blades (CS), two elbow blades (CS), two knee blades (CS), two sleeve blades (CS), shield spikes on an animated shield, a braid blade (Dungeon 120), and a few poison rings (Dragon Compendium), possibly more. If you apply a +1 and some weapon property individually to each of those, you could have a lot running. So what useful properties don't require a combat action, because they're either set-and-forget (such as the Smoking weapon enhancement from Lords of Darkness), non-action (such as the Warning property from Magic Item Compendium), or free action (such as the Defending property from the DMG)?
