Need advice on build

I'm playing a fighter with gunslinger archtype. I'm a lv 3 humane with the feat shield master. My load out right now is leather armor I have a Helberg , musket, repair and my main shield the pistol. My stats are 15,18,18,14,16,12. My party is me,rouge,and a sorcerer. I would like to fine some way to better keep use alive. Should I take the healer feat or should I just let it be

It's a home brewed campaign but the archetype he's having me use is the Matt Mercer's archetype from the show critical role.
