Is it safe to say that Occult Adventures is one of the most self-contained books in Pathfinder? I've only glanced through, but it looks like a fairly compact subsystem, capable of supporting an entire campaign on its own.

Reason being, I'm planning to ask my library to add this to their collection, and it would help my case if I could claim that Occult Adventures stands well on its own, rather than requiring other supplements to make it fully playable.

I'd say that's a fair statement. I'd recommend Bestiary 5 to go with it though.

You of course need the core book for the rules and spells, and some of the other books for spells (and archetypes). It does stand better than, say, Ultimate Magic or Ultimate Combat, though.

Scribble the PFSRD url in the front cover.
