Looking for a D&D 5e group to start playing with and was curious where you all find your groups.

I found a local Adventurers League venue, played there for several weeks, found some like-minded players and started an at home group recently.

Google search your area, meetup.com D&D
Go to adventure leagues and poach players from there.

If your area has a good gaming store, there are usually notices posted of people looking for players, or better yet groups sitting around playing.

I started a craigslist ad and found 3 players. The other two in my group were found in a D&D Facebook group.

You might also find some unusual sucess putting up an ad or two wherever you find D&D books being sold. You'd be surprised where you can find them, EB Games for example.

Local store runs a facebook page that I posted at and there was also a meetup page for RPG players in my area. I had a bit of trouble finding a group looking for players, but I was able to put together my own group between these two sources.

I'll second the Adventurer's League. You can play some fun games in the League, and potentially join/start a game with those same people outside of the League.

I will say that when I tried joining a couple different Adventurers League games I found a couple people I wouldn't have minded playing with but that being said - actually trying to play in the Adventurers League made me want to pull my hair out. Not enough good people, and the pre-written modules felt very 'stiff' to me.
