Race + Class + Background Justification

Simple request that I'm having trouble with.

Deep Gnome, Mystic, Uthgardt Tribe Member

How would you justify this backstory, how did a psionic using Svirfneblin become a member of the Uthgardt tribe and which tribe do you think they would be a member of?

Deep Gnomes that sheltered several uthgardt tribe members during some kind of calamity and afterwards have built up favorable relationships, resulting in trade and absorbing eachothers culture.

For whatever reason your character lives with/has heard stories of the ways of the uthgardt tribes and thinks it is superior to his own culture.

Mystic background likely involves reading about the legends of uthgardt etc.

That's one idea?

Kidnapped by drow as a babe, sold into slavery, taken along as emergency rations during a surface raiding party where a bunch of Uthgardt (however you spell it) killed the drow and took in the weird gnome.

A tribe of gnomes that fled encroaching drow and fled all the way to the surface where they found a tribe of Uthardht (however you spell it). The gnomes have stuck with the barbarians ever since, and your character is a descendent of a long line of out-of-place deep gnomes.

Parents were exiled from their homeland and fled to the surface. Etc.

Your character is adopted. How you got to the tribe is a mystery. All you have is some trinket that may someday lead you to your true parents.

A wizard did it.

That background (or outlander) can be representative of any tribal origin.

Just say he's from a tribe of svirfneblin, problem solved.

He has studied the uthgard tribes so extensively that he knows everything about them, then one day something very traumatizing happened to him and he went insane really thinking he is an uthgard tribe member and since he knows everything about them he also get the perks and skills it gives. :)

Being familiar with a language with similar words, you spell Uthgardt exactly as written, every single letter of it, no silent sounds anywhere. (IMHO) :)
