Servus Playground.

This thread is geared towards GMs and what we learned during our "job".
Now we all know "Tuckers Kobolds" by now and we should know what it all means: Breaking CR by posing a way more complex battle than CR/EL would indicate, while still staying in the boundaries of the rules.

Overkill is easy. We all know that and we know how to avoid that to stay within the system. This is not what this collection is all about. It is about using some "Goons", "Thugs" or "Minions" and build an encounter around it that is challenging and engaging but still way inside the system.

So, for example, an Encounter of Orc Brb/Brb/Wtch w/ Slumber is very channeling but not overkill.

What do you guys come up with?

I like to have groups of goblins with longspears or bows and the Ready Shot feat to make my group more mindful of what they're charging at.
