One of the monk's perks is the ability to run along vertical surfaces. I'm just looking for clarification about how to read this. Does this mean you can run along a wall in any direction of your choice, including running up the wall, or does it mean you can only run horizontally along the wall?

The wording is "move along vertical surfaces" which means that if it is a vertical surface, the monk may move in any direction they wish.

It means you can run along walls in any direction of your choice. If you end your move on a vertical surface, you fall.
