I'm talking about comics with one massive story line instead of random comics e.g. XKCD.

Most of the threads in this subforum are dedicated to webcomics like that. I'd recommend browsing through the threads and seeing what seems to appeal to you.

What genre are you looking for? Girl Genius is a pretty popular one; it's an alternate reality of Earth where an aptitude for science is a literal superpower. I'm also very fond of Paranatural, which is basically about a ghost hunting club. JL8 is also decent, though updates have been really sporadic lately; it's the DC universe superheroes as children.

Irregular Webcomic definitely fits the bill, although it takes a bit to get going (like OOTS, actually). It's also done, so you just have to worry about reading through years of archives.

As was already said, watch the threads in this forum.

Then, some comics I can recommand:
Fairly short:
* http://www.widdershinscomic.com - 1830, adventures in England. Unique magic system.
* http://www.lackadaisycats.com - Prohibition-era gangster story. With cats. - Really nice art, well researched historic facts, but slow updates.

Longer:
* http://rustyandco.com - Rustmonster & friends going on adventures.
* http://freefall.purrsia.com - Hard SF. Furry Engineer :)

Already concluded:
* Nodwick (http://comic.nodwick.com/?comic=2001-01-01) - The ultimate henchman. The first 6 comics will give you a pretty good idea :smallbiggrin:
* http://www.shakesandfidget.com/comics-2/ - Adventures/quests of a goofy warrior and a gnomic mage, in World-of-Warcraft.
* Dungeons&Denizens (http://dungeond.com/2005/08/23/08232005/) - A minotaur working as tech support in a dungeon.
* Older stuff from the Foglios: Buck Godot (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buck_Godot), MythAdventures (offline?)

Digger (http://diggercomic.com/)is the best concluded, single-storyline comic known to mekind.

Otherwise there's Out At Home (http://outthere.keenspot.com/), which I haven't read in some time, and is one of the few human relationship-driven webcomics I know.

And The Fancy Adventures of Jack Cannon, if you are into kind of superheroes.

Or The Phoenix Requiem, if you are into romance.

There also is Tails (http://www.tailscomic.com/comic/prologue-2/), very good, although more slice-of-life than story driven (also, it's over).

Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire is pretty good. It is also over.

And if you're into existentialist stuff, another completed webcomic is 1/0.

For Fantasy:

Unsounded, which probably still has the best art out there. Mystery and magic battles, very dark and occasionally a bit gorey at times.

Kill Six Billion Demons. Someone threw The 36 Lessons of Vivec, Hindu mythology, gnosticism, the Kabbalah, the goetica, Planescape and a stack of kung fu movies in a blender, then illustrated them gorgeously.

I'll second this recommendation. This webcomic is both beautiful and unique.

...IWC has been restarted for quite a while now

EDIT: No link or summary was provided for IWC, so here it is: http://www.irregularwebcomic.net/

Quick summary: IWC has multiple storylines (called "themes"). You can read by theme, or chronologically and get the full mix. Personally, I'd recommend reading chronologically, but if you get into a theme, the site is made so you can easily just follow that for a while. There are crossovers though so it sometimes makes more sense if you're caught up on other themes. The jokes themselves vary from gaming, literature, pop culture, science, math and basically anything else you can think of.
