John doe hates magic users for x reason. But he users magic In his fight. I want to make use of spells like counterspell, dispel magic, invisibility, ect.
So far I'm thinking of going FS sorcerer. For rp reasons to explain why he has magic. And because metamagic. What would be the best way to bring this charter to life. Imagine a platewearer with a great sword casting counterspell then slicing the no good magic user.

Bring the character to life... Let's start with the basics:

1. What does he want?

2. Why does he want it?

3. How does he plan to get it?

Once you've got those down, we can start fleshing him out a bit.

If you're looking to us for inspiration on the three questions above, then I'm happy to come back with suggestions, but since they're plot-critical it might make more sense for you to specify them.

Edit: I just realised you're a player, not a DM... :elan:

Here is a fun homebrew class: http://geekandsundry.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Witch-Hunter-Class-FINAL-4.2.pdf

As for me, back in 3rd edition, I played a Witch Hunter (Drew from Occult Slayer (http://alcyius.com/dndtools/classes/occult-slayer/index.html) and Suel Arcanamach (http://alcyius.com/dndtools/classes/suel-arcanamach/index.html)) for a bowman that was Paladin-minded and could dispel enemy mages as he fought them. Nastly little guy. An evil mage burned down his village several years back leaving only him and his sister alive. Both swore revenge, but his sister chose the path of becoming a mage to have enough power to do it. Naturally, my character now targets his sister too. Fun stuff.
I reflavored his few spells into monk-like secrets he learned from an isolated tribe.
