What if the reason the Greenhilt sword is gaining new powers is because it is slowly devouring Roy's soul?

Well, he sure doesn't seem like a Wheel of Fortune kind of guy.

To use a quote, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

Are you joking? If you aren't I really doubt Roy's soul could be in jeopardy because I'm pretty sure the Greenhilt sword is a different type of sword (not cursed) than Violet's father's sword.

Is Roy's sword "Cursed"? No? Didn't think so. There's your answer.

Maybe that 2nd level apprentice Smith in Azure City screwed up really bad when he reforged the sword?

Or maybe Sabine was really telling the truth and the sword was originally starmetal, and reforging a starmetal sword with more starmetal causes it to become cursed!

Honestly, I clicked on this thread thinking it would be something about Roy getting kicked out of celestia. Apparently it's even weirder.

So what you're saying is, Violet is Roy's timetraveling daughter who died chronologically before she was born?

And someone destroyed the cursed sword! Yes exactly, Xykon did. Just took a while till the news reached the heavens.
Of course that means that Xykon is Roy's great-great-great-granddaughter (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0486.html).

We've seen a cursed weapon that eats souls: Tarquin's axe. See page 864a in BRitF. Despite the pain, Roy managed to dispose of it without being overcome.

Before Serini was introduced, would you have said, "we've seen a halfling, they're all Chaotic Evil little bastards?"

One is not necessarily indicative of all.

I am guessing that the Star Metal gave the Great Sword access to a power source. I had placed a guess over in the C&L Geekery thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=20410194&postcount=1363).

I am sometimes seriously surprised at the memory some readers have.

However, given that the sword hasn't been tampered with since Azure City, I'd find it weird if that were the reason, although it would be funny because of how out of left field it would come.

He's probably going to pick "potent potables".

He's probably going to pick "potent potables".

Well, when everyone else is taking things like Anal Bum Cover for $7,000, Potent Potables is the only category left, really.

Guys, it's obvious: the sword is actually Trigak!

I thought everyone was Trigak. Not just in the comic, either.

I'll take "Epileptic Tree Theories" for $200, Reptilian Alex Trebek.

Gotta say man, I really doubt that the Greenhilt Family sword is going to go the route of Frostmourne. For one thing we've already had one Death Knight in this story, and for another, one member of the party has already turned into an undead monster, and it wasn't Roy.

Plus Horace Greenhilt used the sword for his entire life and was fine.

Really its the radiation poisoning which Roy needs to watch out for.

Then again he could probably just have Durkon cure him...

It all makes sense.

In the latest comic, it has been revealed that it is a Weapon of Legacy. (hopefully a custom one)

Clearly they hadn't read 'Laws of Consanguinity and Time Travel (subtitle: why Matt Smiths Dr Who got hella squicky)'

Wasn't Violet also in a relationship with Roy's FATHER?

Violet, Roy, and Eugene all met at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, where they concocted a plan by which Violet would become both Roy's daughter and mother. Their plan is ruined, however, because they spend all their time in the Restaurant arguing over the proper verb tenses to use while time-traveling, until they were interrupted by Belkar and Elan playing Krikkit with C&D letters from the Adams estate.

And Eugene figured it out, which is the real reason he refused to become a fighter. It all makes sense!

I thought the board of peace was what the monks were hitting themselves with in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Don't worry, weapons of legacy don't devour your soul, they just devour your feats, spell slots, attributes, and saves.

(Roy's is gonna be a less painful homebrew)

I take "Roy`s Soul 800".

Lol, You guys calm down this this is suppose to be a interesting hypothetical [i think]. I don't see why your being so serous about it.

Any way I think if the sword WAS cursed then I believe wouldn't be sucking out his soul but clouding his judgment in a plot to get him killed. That's why he leaped onto the dragon and why he couldn't see Durkula for what he was.
