For a Malconvoker build, I would like to include Legion Devil (Fiendish codex II, pg 122) to summon monster list (via a substitution), however cannot decide which level of summon monster it should be in.
As individuals, they are pretty weak, but as the number grows, they grow stronger: They share a hp pool, they get +4 to attack for each Legion devil within 60 ft, can teleport near each other with a move action, all of them uses the highest save roll (if there is 5 legion devil, you roll 5 times and take the highest roll).
So summoning as a single creature, they are meh. But if you use higher summon monster to summon more of them, they can get quite scary, especially with Malconvoker buffs.
A fiendish direwolf (cr 3) is a monster for SM IV. Should Legion Devil be same, or higher? What are your thoughts?
