Hengekyokai Cleric?

Hey guys, I have been considering various dips for a character I've been making and for fluff reasons I thought that one level in cleric might be acceptable.
However, I saw in the Hengekyokai race entry that they do not worship deities, only various spirits (of forests or whatever).
As a result, could a Hengekyokai take a Cleric level?
(If it is, what would be the best domain to choose for a Charge-y, Trip-y Fighter-type character (with warshaper)?)

Depending on the setting, clerics can worship ideals instead of actual deities.

The Rokugan setting normally uses Shamans instead of Clerics.

Characters native to Rokugan may not choose any of the following classes from the Player’s Handbook: bard, cleric, druid, paladin, or wizard.

If you're adapting the Hengeyokai to a different setting, the race's relationship with deities might change accordingly. Talk to your DM.
