This is a DM aid for deciding what happens if the PCs sit around for awhile, what has happen in an area if the PCs have been gone awhile, or what has happened to an NPC the PCs haven’t met in a while.

There are two basic ways to use these tables: Look at the relevant table (s) for inspiration and decide what happens, or roll several times on each table and decide which roll to use.

While I like the idea of this, I'm a little confused about the relevant skill chart, is that meant to generate something like "a tremendous use of use rope is the cause of a natural disaster"?

I think tell first three tables are what is happening then the last one is how to solve it. Interesting idea but needs a little bit more explination.

It tells you how to use them: either roll on one, or just roll on all of them until you find something that inspires you. So if I roll 1d84 (not that I know how to do that) and get Perform: Oratory, I might decide that a political speaker has started an inconvenient campaign for the PCs.

I was thinking more like: The PC meets a potential spouse/lover who needs knots untied.

But it only matters so far what I was thinking; the table’s value to you is in the ideas it gives you, not the sort of ideas I was expecting it to give you.

Since this is an inspiration source rather than a rule, clarity can be counterproductive.


It tells you how to use them: either roll on one, or just roll on all of them until you find something that inspires you.
Or on two or three of them, if you like.


So if I roll 1d84 (not that I know how to do that) and get Perform: Oratory, I might decide that a political speaker has started an inconvenient campaign for the PCs.
Why roll 1d84? Why not roll 1d100? You will already be rerolling as needed.
