View Full Version : Project Sashai: A World Based on Random Generators

So, using the generators over at chaotic shiny (http://chaoticshiny.com/), I've started coming up with a randomised world. The world is called Sashai by place-name randomisation. Now, I know a few things about Sashai: it's got to be inhabited by all of my randomised classes. Some of them already have backstory behind them:

Temporal Demi-Artificers (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?478994-The-Temporal-Demi-Artificer-of-Might-Fun-with-the-class-mashup-generator-PEACH) steal items from the past, the future, and the realms of possibility. They used to have a hostile relationship with the Stone Rat Priests due to fears of global destruction and inability to use their powers, until the latter pointed out that the way the Demi-Artificers' powers work meant the Stone Rat Priests' destruction could not ever stop them from working. They unite behind the ideal of might: ultimate, pure power.

Stone Rat Priests (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?479010-The-Stone-Rat-Priest-of-Decadence-Fun-with-the-class-mashup-generator-PEACH) climb over the ruins of civilisation - they are in fact united under the ideal of decadence, society's decline. These martial artists use four daggers to fight in a unique fighting style which is also their method of climbing.

Glyph Reavers (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?479019-The-Glyph-Reaver-of-Warding-Fun-with-the-class-mashup-generator-PEACH) use their enchanted polearms, including their signature weapon glyphglaive, to defend the realm. These legendary manhunters and jailers idealise warding and protection.

Inverse Fighters (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?479034-The-Inverse-Fighter-of-Treachery-Fun-with-the-class-mashup-generator-PEACH) use their enemy's own strength to ruin them. It is no surprise, then, that the inverse fighter's ideal is treachery: they never hold themselves loyal to one person for long.

Xenobards (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?479137-The-Xenobard-of-Love-Fun-with-the-class-mashup-generator-PEACH) idealise love, and indeed are so loving that they accept the kinds of alien creatures that others would reject, which leads to their own rejection and their proactive music style.

Scroll Mercenaries (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?479141-The-Scroll-Mercenary-of-Wisdom-Fun-with-the-class-mashup-generator-PEACH) read their spells from the great scroll, which contains every wizard, sorcerer and cleric spell ever written, and no dearth of metamagic either. They wait until just the right time to use their spells: indeed, they value wisdom above all else.

So are you also going to be rolling up random cultures to go with your random nations, or are those something you're going to work out with the information you already have?

By the way, the Glyph Reaver is super cool. Nice work on that.

Oh, yeah, I am. In fact, I'll edit in the cultures into one of the posts.

Hehe, thanks. I'm always making more of the random classes (my last one was the scroll mercenary of wisdom, and we'll soon move on to the intoxication pirate of courage... uhm, yeah...) so this should be fun.

I never really let myself go too nuts on random generators, I end up with stuff I have no idea what to do with, but you seem to be using the right generators in the right ways. This looks really interesting. I'll keep tabs on this for sure.

Those classes are really flavorful and could work with existing classes/homebrews. Inverse fighter sounds a lot like martial arts? Is there a focus on weapons or hand-to-hand? That gigantic scroll is neat. Does it update every time a new spell is cooked up? Or do you have to meditate and learn of a new spell and scribe it down yourself?

Randomized creatures seem like something that could really spice a campaign up. There's a lot of strangeness with the D&D world already, but there's always room for improvement.

Hey man, just got a neat combination I thought you'd enjoy:

Laser scout of Chaos

This class is designed for magical ranged combat, a specific social skill, defensive fighting and companion creatures and is moderately good at endurance, heavy weapons and dealing with metaphysical entities. They are poor at agility, healing and a specific physical skill. They have a signature weapon.

Thought I should give you this cool race generator: http://www.seventhsanctum.com/generate.php?Genname=fantasyrace

Here are two neat examples:
The tiny race. They are slime-covered. They have perfect memories. They have an affinity for jungles. They completely control a rich jungle empire that is actually a living being they exist in harmony with. They are a magical mutation of another race.
The colossal race. They have pointed ears. They appear to be changing into a different species over time. They change genders as they age. They are famous for their great monuments. Their magical practices focus exclusively on divination. They are in general, atheists. Their government is extremely corrupt. A great destiny awaits them, and they wait for it patiently.
