I've come across this guy a few times in my perusing of the MMs. He's pretty rad and he'd be a great counter for our current party.
Were all level 12 with 2 clerics, a sorcerer , and a ninja.
Since the golem looks like an undead he'd benefit from turn undead.
The sorcerer loves to use light spells, so that would give him haste.
The ninja likes using darkness, that would help him too.

What I've been trying to come up with was some kind of puzzle or something utilizing the shadesteel golem, rather than just a shoot em up.

So far I've Been on the path of a conditional golem that turns on and off depending on what the party is doing. But beyond that, I'm kind of stumped on what the puzzle should be.

Any good ideas out there?

Edit- also, I'm trying to visualize the geometry of a battlefield that would give lots of places for the golem to hide in the shadow of the sorcerer's light spells and still have line of effect so his negative energy burst can heal his team. Not sure if there's a way that he can have both cover from the sorcerer (cover from his light spell blocking the light and making a shadow he can hide in) and line of effect to his greater shadows.

keeping it simple.....fog. Could it be that easy? Fog to block the light.....
