So due to it being an Election Year, I thought we should evaluate here at the Forums who has been the best Fictional President of the United States, employing the different media of TV, Film, Video Games, Books, and Comics(Shudder). Then we could discuss why they are the best.

So I know about President Bartlett from the West Wing, the president guy from Madam Secretary, Morgan Freeman from Deep Impact, that guy who was president in that other asteroid crashing into the planet movie(Armmageddon), Fake Bill Clinton from Contact who is being disqualified since he was made from clips of the real Bill Clinton so none of those types.

So, who do you know of? Who would you say was the best?

Important Note: I want Fictional Presidents here, no presidents that exist due to clips being used of a real president or people who could have been president had they won the election. I am looking at Presidents that are completely fictional that have been present in different media sources.

No real life Presidents or Presidential hopefuls allowed. You have been warned by me since listing one of them is not cool. So don't list Trump for a fictional president because no media has actually been made featuring him as President.

The head of Richard Nixon was great, but he peaked early; he was never able to top the sheer, raw sex appeal of Robot Nixon when he was first elected. Still, going to be hard to top him, especially with the Headless Body of Spiro Agnew serving as Vice President to the Earthicans.

President Alexander J Luthor. A man who was never afraid to campaign for what he believed in: low taxes, a strong economy, investment in science and technology, a strong military, an end to the wave of violent vigilante justice that has plagued the great nation of America and above all, a steadfast opposition to illegal aliens. Vote Luthor!

The President featured in the anime Canaan.

America is traditionally not depicted all that flatteringly in anime. American men, if not slobbering and craven, are at least moderately sleazy, and American women are usually loud-mouthed and buxom in equal proportion. Thus, when placed in a dire situation, it was pleasantly surprising that the President turned out to be an extremely virtuous character.

Just thought of a cool idea for this topic... what about holding a vote to elect the best fictional US President? We could organize characters by "party" (say, for instance, Live-Action Party, Animation/Comics Party, Games & Literature Party), hold primaries to see who's the official candidate for each party, and then hold a general election. For obvious reasons, I'd recommend excluding fictionalized versions of real people, as well as characters identified as belonging to real-world parties, from that election.

See, I never got the point of doing so. It's one thing in fantasy, where it might be magic item named by maker, but in real life? What, you're going to pull a sword and casually tell opponent 'let me introduce you to Demmy'? That sounds kind of both juvenile and creepy at once. Look at Sam, he makes his sword cool with his skill, not bling and flash compensation. We don't learn its name, no embellished history, all we know is fictional maker to make it sound historic (though I found the plotwank 'old swords are just better' to be pointless too, in reality katana was made out of steel folded multiple times because both kinds of steel used in them sucked in different ways, folding being an attempt to nullify weaknesses by combining their properties, and modern metallurgy would easily make you a single piece katana handily beating originals in every possible way...).

And you can't just declare someone President who wasn't elected or conferred the authority through succession. Who do you think you are, the Supreme Court?

Sam's Murasama* blade was originally just a masterfully forged ancient blade. According to MGR, any sword can be retrofitted as a high frequency blade. However, you should pick the highest quality blade possible. The sharper and stronger the original blade was, the better the high frequency version of it would be. Sam's sword was better than any other blade in the game because obviously ancient japanese master swordsmiths have no equals or let alone betters. That's just simple logic.

And back to the original topic. While Armstrong would be a strong choice, he never was a fictional president. He kind of died before he could even run as one. And had his evil plans exposed, which are certainly classified as high treason. Not an expert on US legislation but I imagine that just might be grounds for disqualification in a presidential race.

Tl;dr: Vote for George Sears. "Damn the Patriots!"

He's not technically a president of the United States, however.

On the other hand, the US is in the galaxy. Though admittedly, only somewhat briefly during Zaphod's tenure...

Is there any interest in giving the above a try?
