Our party had a gnome PC (bard, if class is a factor). The gnome died, and due to limited resources options at the time, we were forced to use Reincarnate rather than more usual means of resurrection. Now the gnome is an elf, and the sudden -4 to his CON score is staggering. The party is level 10, with somewhat less than average gold, and only one major city from which we can attempt to procure appropriate magic items/spells to ease his affliction. We are allowed to use any materials from D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder, as long as it could be feasibly found within the city. The city in question is classified as a Large City, with 7th level casting services, and availability of minor through major magic items. We have already acquired a Belt of Mighty Constitution, but what might we do to boost his CON a bit?

TLDR: Gnome got turned into an elf. What can we do to boost his CON?

He can transform back through the use of wish. Savage Species gives the deets, but that's basically all there is to it.

Ha! The amusing bit is everyone in the party has agreed we can't tolerate this player being a gnome any longer. The GM can't even take this guy being a gnome any longer. Were it not for his unfortunate CON score, he's much better off as an elf. However, that is also why we're at a bit of a loss. Moreover, we're way too low levelled/poor to be able to afford Wish. Had we access to 9th level magic, we'd have far fewer problems overall. Moreover, had we access to Wish, we could just Wish to rearrange his stats.

You can always try killing him again, then use Last Breath* to spin the roulette wheel again and hope for a better race. Even if it takes a few tries to get something you like, it's still an order of magnitude cheaper than Wish, and you probably can't find anyone who can cast Wish anyway.

*It's Reincarnate, but cheaper, faster, and no level loss, you just have to use it immediately. It's like what Revivify is to Raise Dead.

You could go on a quest to find a wishfern...

The Reincarnate (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/reincarnate.htm) spell even says Wish and Miracle can be used to get your original body back. Since that's an official use, Miracle shouldn't cost the caster 5000 XP. (The Wish spell unfortunately always costs at least 5000 XP.) Therefore if you can find a high level caster, purchasing a casting of one 9th level spell (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/goodsAndServices.htm#spell) for 1530 gp is by far the cheapest solution.

Savage Species allows you to arbitrarily change to a different species via the Wish spell (even if you haven't been reincarnated and never were the desired creature in the past) although you don't necessarily get the new creature's (Ex) (Sp) and (Su) abilities.

Another option is to use the Savage Species Ritual of Vitality. It will cost you 1000 XP and 7000 gp, but even with the 1 XP = 5 gp value similarity, the effective cost of 12000 gp is still cheaper than Wish. This has the advantage in that it can be done yourself if you have a 7th level caster in the party.
