I think that most threads go straight into talking about character builds that are popular in the public mindset but likely skip over lots of great options that aren't immediately obvious. They also skip over strategies to use in the game that could help players be more effective. Many aspects of 3.5 D&D are generally non-obvious to beginners like thinking Monk > Druid, not buying rope, or not checking dungeon doors for traps and opening them from a distance (Open/Close is a 0th level spell).
What useful character options and strategies do you think are heavily underrated in 3.5 D&D?
Note: This was generally spurred on by my realization of how ridiculously cheap low level scrolls are and how ridiculously useful they can be at all levels.
