So, I play 5e, and I want to get some of my friends to play, too. I want a free adventure that I can run for them. Something short and easy (and level one) to get them interested. Does anyone have anything?

I've thought about the starter set, but I don't have money, physical or digital.

I can't necessarily speak for the quality of all the adventures here, but I've borrowed some pretty neat ideas for my own campaigns from the adventures listed on this site:

5th edition contains lots of rules and tables for random generation. Why don't you try rolling something up on your own?

Probably because the whole idea is to ease into the hobby gently, rather than going "Ohgodohgod, how do I turn the random elements into an adventure that doesn't suck? And make it balanced? And ensure a wide variety of challenges and ... <newbieGM'sBrainExplodes>" :P

If his/her players are anything like mine all (s)he has to do is not make it plain to them that everything is RNG and they will draw their own conclusions and produce a story. Then you just go with it throwing in a twist here and there to keep things interesting.
