In any of the splats of any of the editions of D&D, has there ever been a special material (such as mithril or darkwood) that is basically vulcanized rubber or even better in terms of strength and elasticity?

Do PCs count?

If not I'm gunna go with magically treated Whale foreskin....

As for a slightly more serious suggestion perhaps treating an ooze would work.

Are looking to introduce some into your campaign OP?

Is there a way to treat leather to be elastic, maybe ?

Yes. I just wanted to see if one existed somewhere already, otherwise I'll just say it is some vine that gains those properties when treated alchemically.

Darkleaf? That is supposed to be more flexible than darkwood

I've considered having a green ooze in the corner of the room that turns out to be flubber.
