So I'm running a wizard in a game my friend is running, where I'm the only player, and only have the one character.

I'm trying to maximize the number of spells I get to start with, and as I level up, so as to spend my gold on other things, like stat bosters, and AC magic items that don't F*** with my spells.

So, my question to you all is: What was can I do this? I've already taken Collegiate Wizard, and am maxing out my Int. other than that, I can't really find anything else, however, this is my first wizard so I'm assuming I've missed something.

Books I can use: PHB, DMG, Spell Compendium, All the Completes (No psionics, but he might allow a feat from that is it doesn't have any psionics related stuff.) MIC. I'm running a Half-Dragon Human, as he as allowed me to add the template, without subtracting from my wizard levels. Focused Specialist Wizard 3/Master Specialist 2.

Any help is great, thanks.

EDIT: Small extra question not worth making a new post for, do wizards have to learn 0 level spells in their spell book? or do they just know all of them?

Elven Generalist (RotW) gets you an extra spell known at each level. You found Collegiate Wizardry. Apprentice Spellcaster (DMGII) gets you an extra 1st level spell known and free access to your master's spellbook, which doesn't make the spells entirely free, but you only have to pay for the scribing, not the privilege of copying them. Domain Wizard (UA/SRD) gets an extra spell known of each of levels 0-9 and can be combined with Generalist.

So if I use Boccob's Blessed Book, then that would stack to make them all free right?

Free except for the cost of the BBB.

The Secret Page Trick makes them fully free, but is cheesy as all get out.

Free except for the cost of the BBB.

Ya, but I was getting the BBB anyways. Don't want to carry more than one book, and plan to copy every spell I can get my hands on.

Thanks for your help. Looking into all of the options you gave above now.

This is what the easy bake wizard (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?325933-Easy-Bake-Wizard-Handbook) is for.

Ditching your spellbook is far better than the BBB, because you can't lose your spells if they're indelibly imprinted on your soul.

That's cool, sadly not all the books are open to me this time, however I am lookin it over, and will take what I can to make my build better.

By the way, as a wizard you know ALL the cantrips. All of them. Not just the ones in the PHB, but every one ever printed for the wizard under the d20 system.

Thanks. Do you think my DM would listen to that rule if I tried to use one from a book he said I can't use?

Thanks. Do you think my DM would listen to that rule if I tried to use one from a book he said I can't use?If a book isn't available in the game, then for the purposes of your game, it technically doesn't exist. You can try to convince him, but I wouldn't bother unless he's amenable to things like that.

If the campaign world is Greyhawk you might try to sell your DM on the Greyhawk regional feats from Dragon Magazine - Greyhawk Method. I am not certain (as I don't have a copy) but my memory says it raises the number of new spells each level from 2 to 4.
