So when Trigak the chimera dies in 23# or something, Elan wonders if he'll come back as a "vampire or something". Now, we are in a story arc all about vampires. Will Trigak be brought back?

Trigak is Durkon, Trigak is the Walrus.

Please don't wake the "everything is Trigak" forum joke. It should slumber as long as possible.

Will Trigak be brought back? Not as a vampire. A chimera is normally a magical beast. The vampire template normally may not be applied to anything but humanoids or monstrous humanoids. We haven't seen a violation of that rule so far (Malack was a monstrous humanoid, as was the nameless goliath outside the Godsmoot). Malack's/Durkon*'s staff (the tool for circumventing vampire rules, thusfar) has been destroyed.

Clearly, then, Trigak will show up as a Something.

What's the LA for this template?

Trigak's body was almost certainly reduced to a delicious meaty salsa when the dungeon exploded, unless they were rezzed or turned into some sort of undead, which then proceeded to get out of Dodge before Elan triggered the self-destruct rune. So, if Trigak WERE to ever return, it's almost certain that it would have be in some sort of spiritual form.

Which is, of course, totally possible in this universe. Though, I have my doubts it'll be as a result of summoning their soul, because Xykon was displeased with their ineffectiveness and, well, the Order's only gotten stronger since then. So, I guess it'll have to be some sort of vengeful spirit deal.

Unless Trigak has some overpowered regeneration going on, like the old "Reptilicus" movie, in which case, each of the kibbly bits in the meaty salsa will regenerate into it's own Trigak, and there will be a Trigapocolypse at the last Gate.

Malack was Humanoid (reptilian), not monstrous humanoid.
As for Trigak; don't chimeras usually split into their component Creatures after death, or is that just a misremembered computer game boss fight?

Malack was Humanoid (reptilian), not monstrous humanoid.Hm. While Malack does identify as lizardfolk (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0737.html) to Durkon, I had considered his different physiological means of locomotion to place him in another species. Plus, Malack didn't bring up being a vampire, so there's a certain level of honesty he wasn't meeting.

This could explain the silhouette in the last panel of 1032 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1032.html) but maybe I'm looking at it wrong.

EDIT: I fixed my brightness and contrast. I was definitely looking at it wrong.

I've always thought Malack was a yuan-ti, which, presumably because of being owned by WotC, wasn't allowed to be clarified. In any case, yuan-ti are either reptilian or monstrous humanoids, depending on the source, so it doesn't change much.

Like a Cthulhu-esque "in his house, he lies dreaming", threads like this can never truly die. They always re-emerge to threaten all that is good and sane in the world. But they can be fun once in awhile.

No-no, that would be ridiculous.

His girlfriend, alluded to here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0019.html), on the other hand...

I mean, the conclusion of Don't split the party was that a relative of an earlier defeated monster came back for vengeance, so who knows?

For some stupid reason, the title of this thread just keeps making me think "Trigak is back, win a Mac (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGUriNVnKBg)". Thrice-cursed catchy advertising!

Fun fact: The lady who owned the cat in said linked ad is a family friend who passed away a couple of years ago. She was a breeder of British Shorthairs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Shorthair) and the cat appearing in the ad is what's called a "British blue", which is a fancy term for the cat's fur being solid grey. Apparently the way the cat appears to speak is by the handler putting a spot of butter on the underside of the cat's chin, hence the "talking" motion as they try to lick it.

No rap fans? 'cause I'm totally getting "Without Me" here.

Two D&D monsters go round the outside
Round the outside, round the outside
Two D&D monsters go round the outside,
Round the outside, round the outside

Guess who's back, back again
Trigak's back, tell a friend
Guess who's back, guess who's back?
Guess who's back, guess who's back?
Guess who's back, guess who's back?
Guess who's back?

I've created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Xykon no more
They want Trigak, I'm chopped hydra
Well if you want Trigak, then this is what I'll give ya
A little bit of lion mixed with some hard dragon
Some goat that will jump start the forum fanon
Then a knife when I get stabbed in the dungeon
By the Belkster when I'm not cooperating
When I'm rocking the table while he's operating "Hey"
You waited this long to stop debating
'Cause I'm back, I'm on the goat turn and chimerating

I came up with a bunch of sound arguments to repudiate the reappearance of Trigak. Then I realised you can't fight fanon with logic. Therefore, here's my counterargument, specifically designed so two Wrongs cancel each other out.
Trigak will return. As Phyrnglsnyx.
