Kind of sad the whole seige is over. That was some of the best writing so far with multiple battles going on at the same and everything in the balance.

Now we have a few loose ends to tie up...

-Retrieving Roy
-Getting out of town
-Finding V
-Lifting the Mark of Justice
-Meetings in the afterlife? Roy and Miko? Roy and his father?
-Raising the dead
-Xykon picking his new target

...before the next big bad battle.

the next one might not be a big bad battle, next is girad's gate, which is protected by illusions, not paladins, so the biggest battle we will probaly see is Oots against team evil

btw you should really put spoilers in the title especially if you're going to list so many things that give away the story line like that

I don't mean fightin' - I mean big time sprawling war with every character engaged and the fate of the world in the balance. I still say, the siege was the best writing so far.

Oh well - every adventure path needs some down time.

We don't actually need Belkar to have his MoJ removed. I suspect most of the action for a goodly while to come will take place outside cities--Girard's Gate is in the middle of a desert, for instance! (Assuming Belkar survives to reach it).

Well, I disagree on that. While dialogue in the whole Azure City was well-written and strips were certainly interesting, the strip has lost its great virtue - the "journey into the unknown" motif.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the whole siege (lasting for strips and strips...) has very limited capacity for surprise. The original idea, which lasted up to Azure City, meant that every strip you'll be surprised. The siege meant no new characters, no new enemies (the three "pseudo-Xykons" were dealt with WAY too quickly), no new areas (all the blue is nauseating)... Even for as brilliant a writer as Rich, the setting presented limits. That's not what I like. And I'm looking forward to the next story arc.

Uh, yeah... Roy's death? I didn't see THAT coming. And Miko killing Shojo. But that was just about it.

miko killing shojo wasn't really that surprising, now if miko had killed HINJO, that would have been surprising

I agree that this recent arc has been Rich's best writing yet. Also, his art has improved enormously. Take a look at V's Fireball Here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0145.html), and Xykon's Meteor Swarm Here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0442.html).

a better example would be fireball here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0145.html) or here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0020.html) compared to fireball here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0455.html), meteor swarm is a different spell entirerly

To each his own...but I can't easily how the following were not thrilling and surprising...well as thrilling and surprising as OotS can be:
-Miko killing Shojo (as you mentioned)
-Hurling Titanium elementals
-Dismissing Titaniums elementals
-The not-so-lame Deathknight
-Roy's death (as you mentioned)
-Elan's song
-Tsusiko's intro
-Redcloak's charge
-Xykon elimination of the Sapphire guards
-The rise of the ghost Sapphire guards
-Miko's destruction

Don't get me wrong but before this, the "journey into the unknown" had perhaps funnier lines but not as much drama. OotS is based on RPG'ing and it only stands to reason that as you up in level, you up the consequences of you actions and you go from adventuring to having a purpose, like saving the world from Xykon and the Snarl.

I take it back. The whole party split up thing has been pretty good.
