How can one gain control of undead in 5th edition?

I think the only undead specific features are the DMG's Oathbreaker Paladin's Control Undead Channel Divinity and the very limited Animate Dead spell.

Also, there's the Undying pact Warlock's weird feature for not having undead attack him.

Aside from that there are generic options such as:
- diplomacy and paying intelligent undead for their services
- GOO Warlock's Create Thrall
- Friends

14th-level Wizard(Necromancer)s have a class feature that lets them do it, too.

Create undead actually grants control over the things made, in the same way animate dead does now.

Of all things, finger of death, if it slays its target, animates it as a zombie permanently under the caster's control.



I miss the command undead spell.
