View Full Version : Pathfinder Archetypes that change dependant stats

I know there are some classes that change the casting stat (like an Eldritch Scion lets a Magus use Cha rather than Int). Is there a list of what archetypes do that, and for ones that make similar changes in other classes (Int for a monk's AC bonuses rather than Wis, for example.)

Sage is a wildblooded arcana sorcerer bloodline that uses Int over Cha, and Empyreal is a wildblooded celestial sorcerer bloodline that uses Wis over Cha.

Inspired blade stacks Int and Cha for determining panache for a swashbuckler. Kitsune trickster rogue archetype adds Int to several Cha skills and Sense Motive. Scarred witch doctor replaces Int with Con for an orc witch. Mysterious stranger replaces Wis with Cha for gunslinger grit.

A kata master monk uses wis and cha to generate panache, and can spend panache/ki interchangeably at higher levels.

Shamans have a spirit hex in the lore spirit they can take that makes all int based skill checks wis based. There is an inquisition that lets inquisitors use Wis over Cha for some social skills.

That is all I can think of right now.

For Pathfinder?
Scarred Witch Doctor -casting (but not bonus spells) to Constitution.
Empyreal Sorcerer - Wis casting.
Empiricist - Perception, UMD, Sense motive and others off intelligence.

The phrasing you probably want to Google is X to Y guide. There's a couple:

Also to note: they errataed/changed Witch Doctor officially, it no longer does the whole Con thing, you now get an invisible +2 int for spell purposes. Personally, I liked the old way a lot more for flavor and allow it in my games.

Yeah the Witch Doctor change was the worst change ever and I flat out ignore it in my games. I hate errata...

pageant of the peacock (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/bard/bardic-masterpieces/masterpieces/pageant-of-the-peacock) lets you replace any Int based skill roll with Bluff, if you're a Bard or have an archetype granting Bardic music (and a spare feat or spell slot). A bit obscure, but fun. Also see Versatile Performance for Charisma (Perform) to specific skills, but that's more a thing Bards lose to archetypes than something that can be gained.

Afraid I am the bringer of bad news but Scarred Witch Doctor has been FAQ-ed and instead of using CON as its casting stat it has been turned into a flavorless +2 Int (to casting & Hex). It no longer cast out of Con but on the otherhand, Half-Orc can now start with the equivalent of an effective 22 INT regarding both spells and Hexes...

Actually, look at the Tiefling and their Fiendish Sorcery racial trait. That works similar by giving a virtual attribute increase to make an otherwise weak class choice possible.

CON based witch was amazingly flavourful and let orcs cast through sheer tenacity and manliness. Virtual +s are not nearly as fun.

There is also the fact that it makes the balance of the game worse...

I propose that we call the bland and overpowered version of the archetype the semi witch doctor.
