I'm just getting the hang of things DnD wise, would playing one be wise?
I read the dnd wiki's summary of them and they seemed decently powerful, but can someone essentially pro/con them?

I was under the impression they were only monsters. Not playable races.

But somebody has proably made up some rules for playing as one, heck, somebody has proably made up some rules for playing as a small lump of green puddy named fred.
*EDIT*: Small lumps of green puddy named Fred are an offical race, with rules and stats documented in the sourcebook Complete Small Lump Of Green Puddy named Fred, or SMLOGP: Fred for short.

God...Fred is so broken.

I did some reasearch and edited my previous post accordingly, I plan to get the sourcebook and make a Small Lump Of Green Puddy Named Fred centered campaign.

If it has a level adjustment, you can play it. This is why it has a level adjustment.

Isn't Death Knight a template in MM 2?

That it is. There's also a version in the Dragonlance Campaign Setting.

Sounds like a cool idea for a high powered campaign. You might fall behind later on, due to high LA keeping down your class levels.
