I'm trying to figure out a ruling on touch spells on runes triggered when passed. (For those unfamiliar with the runecaster, it's a divine prestige class in forgotten realms) runes can hold any divine spells as per the rules. The inscribe rune feat only allows for runes activated by touch but the runecaster expands this to passed or read.

Yeah, you can use touch spells on a pass criteria. I'd specify as part of the criteria that they have to be touching the rune when they pass so it doesn't fire off harmlessly though.

By that then there's no point is making it a pass rune since by default the rune is activated by touching it.

I don't have access to the book atm but I don't think you can accidently set off the default touch rune.

Runecasters don't set off their OWN runes just by touching if they don't want too. Anyone else touching/ reading/ passing it will.
