Theme Songs for RPGs

Hello everyone,

I was just watching some YouTube videos yesterday, and out of the blue, I thought, "what would be a good theme song for some TRPGs? If only there was a website where the creative men and women of the internet talk about role playing games." Then I said to myself, "wait a minute, I use a site like that!"

So if you guys think you have a good idea for what a good theme song for an RPG is, just list it

I'll start with one (and it's kind of weird)

Can't Stop by Red Hot Chili Peppers- Shadowrun
I don't know why, but this song just reminds me of Shadowrun for some reason.

I don't know if theme song is the right way to describe it, but I have often played epic orchestral music during fights at my table. I just go to Youtube and look up classical music.

Mine tend to be campaign level and not system level.

With that said, Infected Mushroom has a song called Cities of the Future. It works beautifully for pretty much anything cyberpunk.

It's a remix of some boss-fight song for a Japanese RPG, but this theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaVqzOWkh18) seems to be wonderful for most epic high-fantasy settings, especially ones involving the clash of divine and demonic beings.

A minor problem is that a lot of RPGs are sufficiently generic that they don't have a particular genre or feel associated with them, and thus it's hard to pin down a theme song. Be pretty hard to give one for GURPS, Fate, or Savage Worlds for instance. Even 'D&D' is sufficiently general to be difficult.

I always have a tough time with these.

I mean, Holst's Mars or or Polidouris's Anvil of Crom give you that fantasy action gravitas, but at the end of the day, the game always ends up at Yackety Sax.

I've always felt that, lyrically, the theme song for RPGs was "Do It or Die" by the Atlanta Rhythm Section.

The album came out in '79, so I suppose it's possible that the guys in ARS were gamers ...

Stephen Lynch has a song that's actually called "D&D". I think it's pretty definitive of the majority of D&D players I've met in my life.

It's not entirely complementary and almost certainly has nsfw audio bits.
