Binding issues?

So after reading the download PDF I'm set to buy the basic 3 5th ed handbooks to start running a game, but reading around I'm seeing that a lot of negative reviews related to the books falling apart.

Is this an ongoing issue, a big deal not that big a deal etc...? If I'm going to have problems with the bindings I'd rather just find a copy that's fallen apart and stick it in a binder from the start.

There definitely were binding issues with the first release, but I haven't seen many complaints after that.

However, only a small percentage of books have that issue; what you're seeing is a concentration of complaints - because all the people who didn't have that issue didn't make a complaint.

Either way, WotC has done a good job working with customers who have had binding problems with their books. If you happen to get one that goes bad within a few months, contact them about it and they'll likely replace it. You can also contact the vendor from which you purchased the books.
