I'm not sure if this should go in Homebrew or here, so I just decided to put ti here, forgive me If it belongs in the other.

This is a thought experiment, use the DnD rules to create a tank, plane, helicopter and other such modern warfare things from magical items in the most cost-effective and simple way, barring wish/miracle and other spells.

Go ahead, have fun.

Make a spider-like statue made out of iron with a hollow body that has a window. Animate Object. Put a wizard inside. Now you have your "tank". If you're a hardcore maniacal inventor, use the harden spell on a magically treated adamantine statue and instead of a hollow interior mount a one way portal on the "tank". Hardness 50, more than 100 HP, the wizard can see and cast spells through the portal from the safety of his home.

We did this once. It involved a homebrewed railgun, and a warforged.

We had magnets, charge for the railgun, bane humanoid (human) on the thing, and threw a lot of metal in. Cones of many d6 at level one are mean.

But then again, we needed it. We were sent against 22 lvl 1 warriors :smallannoyed:

But the warforged was a real tank, with a cannon. 21 AC, DR 2/adamantine.

you could probably brew up a steamtank with a gunpowder cannon or something.

Use the stronghold builders guide.

Make small, 1 stronghold space, fortresses with multiple movement abilities. Attach whatever magic items you feel like making to them.

Wow, this is EXACTLY what I do. Make an item of fireball that you can activate from the inside or something for the gun on the tank.

I did this once with the Stronghold Builders Guide. Created a tank armed with ballistae, and even a support vehicle for 4 tanks shaped like an aircraft carrier.

I also created some air vehicles once, but I don't think I used the Stronghold Builder's Guide for that. Not sure exactly how I got prices.
