View Full Version : Jump limited by height?

I keep finding references to abilities that say things along the lines of:
"your height no longer limits the distance you can jump"
but nowhere in the jump skill it say, you are limited by your height by default.

For example in the Stride (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#stride) salient ability. And I know I've encountered it elsewhere, but I can't recall where.

Is this a remnant of 3.0 or what exactly is the deal here?

Normally you can jump at your jump dc divided by 4 upwards wise and I believe half distance wise.

Long jump: Distance = check (not half)
High jump: Distance = check / 4
Both: Just sum the DCs. (Given the peak of a long jump is a quarter of the distance. The math really does work out quite neatly like that.)

But I was asking about things that are not already in the Jump skill description.

Anything that isn't in the description is class skills and abilities and situational.

It's from 3.0, they changed it for 3.5 but in 3.0 your height gave you a maximum jump length

I suspected as much.
Thanks for answering the exact question.

I wanted to check it out myself for posterity's sake, but finding a 3.0 source is surprisingly hard on the internet.

There is an SRD (http://www.dragon.ee/30srd/) for 3.0 that you can use.

Everything is in .RTF files. Skills II should be the correct one for the skill rules, but exceptions will be in the Monk class in Basic Character Classes I.

Might this also explain why some NPCs, like those in the Epic Level Handbook, were listed with heights?
