View Full Version : Does anyone know of a weather generating tool?

I'd like something where today's weather has some correlation to yesterday's, and where I can input the season and ideally the latitude. So if I'm at 50 degrees north and it's fall I get a fair amount of snow and rain, and sunny days in the 50's degF (low 10's deg C).

Just grab an old farmers almanac for the general area that's similar to your campaign.

Or any real word historical weather data. Then you can just follow along day by day for the climate system you want.

That should do it.

Edit: Here's an example (http://farmersalmanac.com/long-range-weather-forecast/northeast-us/)

From there, type in the zip code of the area you want, and make sure it's a similar general climate as your campaign, and you have yourself a detailed weather forecaster for the campaign. :)

On a day to day basis you can use a Markov Chain. Easy enough to do in something like MS Excel.

You may want a seasonal adjustment term in there if you want seasons though.

I use real weather history from Weather Underground and just pick a city with a similar climate.

A guy named Leugren from the old WOTC boards built a bunch of nice tools for D&D 5E. Among them is a weather generator that he coded based on an old Dragon article. Here is the link:
