Persona 5: New Trailer and JP Release date

Well, we don't have any recent SMT/Persona thread far as I can see, so here's a new one for the news. Today Atlus finally dropped a new trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHqlgr0TPBw) for Persona 5, featuring a ton of new footage of characters (most if not all of the party at this point, I think), gameplay, locations - and my personal favorite, some awesome music. (I'd recommend skipping about the first forty seconds though, it's mostly a still image of the main character getting talked to by someone off-screen, so it's kinda pointless if you don't speak Japanese.) I actually really like the character design on that girl with the motorcycle and armor too, very cool.

In addition, it ends with an official release date! ...for Japan. But still, it's actually not that far off: September 15th this year, only about four months away. I'm crossing my fingers that means an early 2017 release for the rest of us, or if we're really lucky even very late 2016.

Fingers crossed for a Winter 2016 release, though I'm not optimistic.

Ah well. 2017 means I'll have time to maybe catch up on all the other games I bought on sale and never got around to playing before I inevitably get sucked into this.

I was pretty thrilled by the new trailer. The whole game just oozes style and it's really unique-looking. I'm excited for it to come out.

Wow, thanks. I didn't expect anybody to make something like that.

Also, the more I watch the trailer, the more I find I'm eagerly awaiting the JP release - just because that's when all the music should start hitting the 'net. The pieces we've gotten of it in the trailers sound so good, I can't wait to hear full songs. :smallbiggrin:

I assume this series is still going to be a Playstation exclusive? I loved P3 and P4, but I haven't bought a modern Playstation console in about a decade.... :smallsigh:

Yep. It'll be on both the PS3 and PS4 - because it's been in production longer than the PS4 has been around - but it's still Playstation-exclusive.

Well, the main series, anyway. The Arena games got X-Box 360 versions, and Persona Q was a DS game. But everything else has been Sony only.

Which is either cute or absolutely awful depending on whether or not you have a significant other who isn't interested in Persona 5. :smalltongue:

So yeah, you may officially start your countdowns, we're a little over eight months away from finally getting this.

(Also, I wish the pre-order bonus was the soundtrack or plushie from the premium edition instead of the steel case, but what can you do?)

I'll likely wait until it inevitably releases on the Vita, I've played 2, 3 & 4 all on psp/vita, might as well continue that streak(not to mention I actually WANT to play it, and I just have little patience for playing games on consoles lately, but I'll play games on my tablet/psp/vita/3ds all the time).

I'm rather excited, and put in my pre-order for the special edition. I love amazon prime, 20% off ALL new games, even premium editions like that.
