I liked them being not named, nameing them means they will come back as recurring npc, as haley says here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0021.html)

Or Heitai and Heishi, which AFAIK are Japanese words for soldier with some other, rather appropriate, meanings.

A look at our character list, and the number of dead names on it, suggests this is not going to be much help. And the odds are good we won't see them again after a dozen or so comics, even if they do survive. [Maybe a cutaway scene here and there is about it.] But there is hope they will survive the story at least. They can be part of the cheering section as the heros depart for the next gate.

"San" is Japanese for "three". It also has other meanings: like just about every other word in Japanese.

With the Japanese theme:

Yamada Taro and Yamada Hanako: the Japanese equivalent of "John Doe" and "Jane Doe".

Heihito and Heiji: "Soldier One" and "Soldier Two".
