Stick Wars - An OOTS Mini-series Parody

Well I've got a lot of spare time on my hands between now and Saturday when I start my new job, so I had to think of a way as to not be bored out of my skull :)

So I devised Stick Wars. It's a parody of the OOTS characters in the Star Wars universe. There will be 5 strips in all, this first one being the shortest.

I'll post one a day, the final one being on saturday, as long as everything goes to plan. Here is Episode 1! Enjoy :)

Well I had pretty much the worst night of my life, last night. Last week, I was sick, and the day after I got better, I got really sick again. Yesterday wasn't TOO bad, but I don't know if I'm gonna be able to make Episode 3 today. I'll keep popping tylinol, and hopefully I'll feel good enough to make it. Episode 1 took 5 hours, and Episode 2 took 9 hours to make, and Episode 3 is as long as Episode 2, so...

Well anyway, I'll make it as soon as I can.

And I'm really glad all you guys are enjoying this :)

I'm with Gorby. ;D Seidaku's is more like an OotS strip, putting all the gags together, but Ullii's has the appeal of a multi-part strip (and Yokar!) and I can't wait for the rest.

I had a similar idea using Lord of the Rings, but I wonder if it wouldn't be too derivative now... errm, even more derivative than being based off OotS and LotR, that is... :P

Ok, here's the deal

I had all my money stolen from out of my bank account somehow, as I may have mentioned before, I'm not sure. Anyway, the last few days, I've been on phone with the bank, going to the bank in person over and over again, kicking teeth in trying to get my money back. The bank, for some reason, is having a lot of trouble with it, and my rent is due very soon, and i'm out of groceries, and it's been overall very stressful. Everyone I've talked to so far has been an immigrant (which I'm totally ok with) who cannot understand or speak a word of freaking english (wich I hate very much), and all of them are accusing me of attempted fraud, trying to get money back that I actually spent myself. None of these half-wits can seem to get it through their head that if I had spent $3,500.00, I would HAVE THINGS TO SHOW FOR IT! And I have no idea how I'm going to pay my rent, because I JUST got a job.

So skip to current events, the bank's investigative branch claims that they are "looking into it", and my landlady has assured me that we'll be able to work something out, and my parents are comming out on sunday to buy me groceries, so i'm sure everything's going to be OK.

That said, I work at 6am.... it's 5am now... I haven't slept yet... work is gonna suck lots... drinking lots of coffee....... prolly gonna sleep as soon as I get home.... parents comming on sunday..... work monday and tuesday....... I'll work on it during monday and tuesday when I'm not working, and it'll hopefully be up tuesday or wednesday.

Sorry for the waiting guys, I'm SOOO sorry I'm taking so long, and I'm really flattered that you've stuck around :) I promise I'll do it as soon as possible.

Good luck and remember, always talk to the manager--especially if you get blown off by customer service. Always! Get the names of everyone you speak with and keep going up the chain until you get results.

This wouldn't be so bad for any other sign, due to the fact that stars being out of alignment go from 1-2 days to about a month. However, Capricorns are the children of Saturn, and therefore unfortunate enough. But their star alignment can be out for up to 40 years.

In starwars, every female Twi'lek has there midrift showing. Even the jedi one in episode 2 & 3. Otherwise excellent, hope you do more.

Bank troubles? There's an old text adventure named Bureaucracy that was written by Douglas Adams that was inspired by his attempts to get his bank to recognize his change of address. Playing the game requires you to deal with such horrors as bank tellers, airline food, conspiracy theorists, Muzak, stamp collectors, and every other minor inconvenience you've ever experienced blown up to ridiculous proportions.

You can find it on some "abandonware" web sites - it (along with a good FAQ for some of the very obscure puzzles) might help relieve some stress.

You may be right about the movies; I'll have to take your word for it. However, in Star Wars d20 (which I was parodying), there are instances of female Twi'lek who are fully clothed. Check out page 23 of the Power of the Jedi sourcebook, for instance.

Bit of an update, got the groceries today. Good news: I'll have enough money for my share of next month's rent. Bad News: My roommate still doesn't have a job, and has spent the last of his money of a bottle of 95% proof Alcahol called Everclear. So I've given him one week to get a job or else he gets kicked out. He's a good friend, but I need a roommate that can pay their share. I mean, I lost ALL my money, and I still managed to get a job and get enough for my share this month, AND $100 of HIS share!

Conclusion: Things getting better, although that might just be the booz.

Bank News: I called them again for an update on their progress, and they knew nothing about it. After I finally got to speak with someone who could speak fluently in a language I can understand, I found out that I have to go back to my old town, which is my home branch, in order to sort all of this out. My old town is a 1 1/2 hour drive away, and I don't have a car, and I can't run 100 Km/h so I'm pretty much screwed.

For the record, NEVER do business with CIBC. That is the name of the bank. CIBC. Tell all your friends to burn down every CIBC they find.

Was really sad to learn about Rich being in the hospital. I wish he would have told us what it was that made him collapse, but that's his choice. Good to hear he's feeling better, and hope it isn't too serious.

Well I have a few things to do tomorrow, but I should be able to make the strip. I have learned, though, not to make promises :) so no promises.

The last two weeks have probably been the most skitzo weeks of my life.

From everything going down the drain very quickly, to what has happened now. Ok I'll explain:

I went back to my hometown to deal with the bank, where they told me pretty much that I'm screwed because there's no way to prove anything due to all of the purchases being from places in my area. This resulted in me being very pissed off, to say the least. I had to get a job very fast, and I got one at 7-eleven, where I spent a few days in training before they told me that I'd start off on part time for a few weeks, even though I was hired as full time, and the boss knew about my money and debt situation. Last tuesday I looked at my schedule and found out that they had changed things around, and my next shift was the friday of the NEXT WEEK!

Well, I wasn't very happy, and neither was my landlady, so I started looking for a new job, going to all the hotels in the area (i live near an airport, so there's lots) and asking for a nightshift job, because my roommate got a nightshift job at a hotel about a week ago. I never heard back from them, and got shoed away when I went to talk to them, so I was feeling pretty depressed.

After comming home from trying to get an interview at the Holiday Inn accross the street, I sit on my computer, and I get a message on my MSN. I accept the invitation, and the guy on the other end introduces himself as the Human Resources Manager of a Web Design company in the UK. He says that they came across my portfolio, and were impressed, and wanted to take me on as a graphics designer.

That was on Friday. By the way, there is Insane money in graphic design!

So my friend Thomas calls me and asks if me and my roommate Brian want to go on a Camping-Roadtrip to BC (British Columbia, Canada) for the long weekend. I accepted, and we left on friday evening, and just got back now. It was really good for me, and got me really excited about moving to Victoria BC in two months from now.

So I'm still going to get a night-shift job here in Calgary for the next two months, then October 1st when my lease expires, I'm moving. Hopefully this job works out, and I'll make lots of money, because it would be just what I need, plus it's my DREAM JOB! Also, I got two seperate website contracts from word-of-mouth which I'm working on now, so I'm rather busy. Not to mention I still owe my friend Nick a website for his Artwork Portfolio.

Stick Wars... what will I do. I really don't see how I'm going to be able to make them. Don't expect them any time soon, at lease. I'll do them if I have some free time, and post it here, so just keep an eye on my sig, and if it says Episode 3 finished, you'll know I've finally done it.

I'm really sorry for all of this; it's been really hecktic, and with these new prospects for the near future, I can't see myself with a lot of free time in the next while.

I believe there are a number of webcomics and at least one manga that have sporadic publication--they make no pretense of having a schedule.

Stick Wars is (as I see it) fundamentally a vehicle for inside jokes combined with crossover humour. Its audience is going to be fairly selective. If Ulli wants to do a couple of comics each quarter, I think that's fine.
