so I want to play a necromancer (not sure what class I should play)
Thinking of Human for my race (Extra feat)
Want to have one powerful undead minion. (taking undead cohort)
Point buy 36. thinking of putting 18 in cha

so what would be the best way to make this pc

Admittedly my first thought was to also try and make his Strength score high; a literal "strong necromancer." :smalltongue: Then he could carry around his own coffin.

you know I actually like that idea.
is there away for making a gish necromancer?

cause I like the idea of him carrying something nasty in coffin (though i'm sure it would alarm people)
But for him to have high str and high cha and carry around a coffin with maybe a is undead wife who is a badass and his cohort
or a really cool greatsword or some or cool staff o.o

can this be done

Dread necromancer works for that, though my experience with them is limited. Make sure to take tomb tainted soul and lichloved.

Are all of these threads that you've made (recently) for the same game?

There are a few necromancer handbooks that may help.

Reanimated Dread Necromancer Handbook (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?214212-Reanimated-Dread-Necromancer-Handbook)
K's Revised Necromancer Handbook (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=6bgi7k0ij59n9ec0cdlbu27gc5&topic=2733)
Collection of Necromatic Oddities (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=6bgi7k0ij59n9ec0cdlbu27gc5&topic=8963)

As far as a "strong" necromancer, there is a feat in the 3rd party 3.0 book Bastards and Bloodlines called Lost Tradition. It allows you to choose which ability score is used for a casting class. With this feat you could cast spells that use Strength for the save DCs and number of bonus spells.

Your choice between Dread Necromancer, Death Master, Cleric, and Wizard depends heavily on what kind of necromancer you are looking for.

So what kind of necromancer are you looking for?
