a few ground rules

everyone that is required for the trial will be heard (I will determine if your voice needs to be heard)
I will tolerate no disruptions in the courtroom (you will be asked to leave, if you don't I will call the police and they will cart you off in handcuffs)
I am the Judge, I have the final say, I will listen to all arguments, just be patient.

Will NecroMoris and a representative for the Town please appear before me.

NecroMoris is accused of Murder (how many?), assault, resisting arrest, battery and disturbing the peace

((The problem of rigor mortis is his problem, it's his lawyer, he either shows up to defend him or not. Trials are not in the Town timeline. You can show up even if you are dead, a ghost or anything else. If you don't show up, you are considered in contempt of court and I go over to the police station and request a warrant for your arrest. All attorneys are volunteers, there are no court appointed ones.))

OOC: NecroMoris is still not showing up as he is currently trying to get away in "real time". He is in a locked deadtime fight; if he were to suddenly pop in and exist here, get a verdict, and then pop back, that would kill the current plotline and drive me nuts.

Zeretual enters, disabling his cloaking system, and takes a seat, to see how justice works in the Town.

Eight stormtroopers appear, one of them has clearly been wounded several times in the leg. ((Raneus and Jarus will appear when Admiral Kelly confirms NecroMoris is here as well.))
Metakirb won't be a good witness, he was too busy trying to kill everyone. Artemis also appeared after the fact. Raneus, Jarus and the Stormtroopers were the only ones there the whole time.

Raneus and Jarus arrive, with NecroMoris in tow. He is handcuffed.
Take a seat.

NecroMoris is taken into the courtroom.

Stern and his secretary also enter the courtroom along with a red-headed woman in a business suit.

"On account of recent events, I personally cannot defend this man for his crimes. My associate, however, will take my place. Me and Miss Landcaster have come as witnesses."

The red-haired walks over to NecroMoris and begins to scan his mind of recent events by putting her hand near his face. This takes only a few minutes.

"Stop that mindscan immediately."
Jarus attempts to block it. He is immensly powerful, and should be able to.
"That is not permissible here. You will have to get that information the normal way. Do not use any more psychic powers during this trial, I will know. Also, we demand that the women whose arm was bitten off also serve as a witness."

(Read it again, the secretary [the woman whose arm was eaten] is already going to testify)

Hmmm, no psionic powers.
Zeretual thinks to himself, before disabling his shields.

"Sir, I was not going to present my finds as evidence in this court. I have to understand my client before I make my case. I have enough information off of him already."

Just to be safe, Zeretual activates a barrier in front of Necromoris to protect against mindscans.

"We each have our own methods. The trial has not begone yet so I can legally scan his mind at this time. Due to time restraints, I find this necessary."

I've just recieved information that the TDI HQ is under attack by Zerg. Crap.

Fleet commander? Why are you here, we can handle the Zerg by ourselves. We've beaten Tyranids, and they're a lot stronger. We don't need you to hold our hand. And yes, I saw him, but didn't meet him personally.

Please arrest the Arrow Demon and Panda there. All others are bystanders. The Arrow Demon is named Krall and is wanted on several cases of Murder. Two to be exact, one of which is me. The Panda is wanted for Assault. I will be rejoining the action shortly.

There is a brief argument between the red-haired lawyer and NecroMoris. In the end, the red-haired woman stands up and says

"NecroMoris pleads guilty to two counts of murder; two counts of resisting arrest; five counts of battery; and four counts of assault. NecroMoris pleads innocent in one charge of murder; one charge of battery; breaking out of jail; one count of assault; and disturbing the peace."

The guilty pleas are not contested, unless you would like to add something before I pass judgement on those. Innocent pleas will be looked into further as witnesses or evidence is brought forward.

For the charges NecroMoris plead guilty to, he is sentenced to 276 hours (11.5) days in jail. He is also ordered to pay the resurrection fees for those he murdered, and to pay to have those he injured-healed.

Your honor, after looking through this evidence, I believe we can get witnesses that will account for the defendant commiting these grievous acts against The Town and its citizens. There will be no doubt that The Defendant is guilty of all charges.

"Yes. Although my client has committed several atrocities towards the Town, sometimes one must take action that would normally be unlawful to survive. Although already the defense has confused to several crimes, the other actions taken by my client were solely out of need of survival. In order for justice to be served, the law must be tempered with mercy or else we would live in tyranny and everyone would be sentenced without trial and be assumed guilty." at this she specifically glances at Raneus. "Today the defense plans not only to prove my client innocent of the other charges but also the unfair treatment of the Town's police." after finishing her statement she sits down again.

Dr.Blueman, a slightly short man dressed in wizard's robes and hat, approaches the bench.

McShire speaks to the witness "Dr.Blueman, what makes you an expert in the fields of magical and supernatural sciences?"

Blueman replies "I received my doctorates in both fields at Spellcraft University."

"What can you tell us of Mr.NecroMoris?"

NecroMoris says silently to himself "He-he, 'Mister' NecroMoris..."

"He's undead."

"Obviously."

"I cannot say anything else of him without an examination first."

McShire turns to the judge. "Permission for Blueman to examine the accused your honor."

Yes, I fail to see what examining a witness has to do with NecroMoris's undead status.

Miss McShire, if you could please state exactly what you expect Dr Blueman to do?

"By examining NecroMoris, we hope to find some reason outside of his control for his actions or one of which is necessary for survival. I highly suspect that is the case of my client."

Raneus is thinking, So this is a case of elevating a single person's rights over the rights of others? That won't get you anywhere.
He appears extremely disgusted by what he believes they are trying to use to explain away NecroMoris's actions as "self-preservation".

Artemis prepares to speak, and therefore join the prosecution.

(I'd noticed a flaw in the self-preservation thing a while ago, and Artemis would be the first to see it.)

Yes. Regardless of whether or not his actions were in self-preservation does not prove anything. The defense seems to think that if he injures innocent people in some form of "self-preservation" it is not a crime. Those people have rights too.

(If so, then Artemis raises his problem.)

Artemis stands.
Also, self-preservation is no excuse for a crime. In my line of business, I know that crime would kick up an awful lot if that past, because a starving thief could steal a piece of bread and get off on "self-preservation".

[Admiral_Kelly]

Miss McShire stands up "Objection, your honor. These men are saying that my client should die to keep within the law."

You are saying he has the right to mutilate other people in his own self-interest. How is that lawful? Also, I am certain that the defendant could have found an alternate way of obtaining what he needs, via magic.

Gwen frowns, Nobody has the right to injure or kill someone else for any reason and certainly not because they think they must do it in order to survive. Descartes was thrown in jail for it. The examination of the client is denied, make your point another way.

"It depends on how deformed the zombie is. Some can pass off as living, breathing, humans while others are highly decomposed or made monstrous."

okay, would you say the defendant killing, and eating a random NPC fisherman is terrifying?

"Well naturally yes."

Would you say the terrifying sight of the defendant devouring a random fisherman NPC constitute as Disturbing the Peace?

Necromoris is sick of this trial and is getting bored.
