I was thinking how useful it would be if one could cast alter self using a higher level spell slot, for increased duration.
And though I think it was intentional that the spell is not supposed to work this way, I was thinking about houseruling it to do so.
What do you think? Would it make other spells like disguise self or water breathig redundant? Or at least less useful? Would you allow it? And if yes, how would the duration scale? (In comparison, hex scales from 1 hour to 8, using a 3rd or 4th level slot, and to 24h if used with a 5th). And if not, why?
