So simple idea for a dual wield build here,
Stout halfling starting with 6 champion, if point buy would use the ASI's to max dex and take TWF style, then 4 levels hunter ranger for defense style, hunters mark and horde breaker, grab feat dual wielder.

After this he takes 4 levels of swashbuckler for + CHA to initiative and the limited "cunning action" after using bonus action to attack, pick mobile feat or alert. Finish off with remaining levels in champion for mariner style(20 AC now with studded leather), 3rd attack, two more feats/ASI and half prof to initiative.

Should be a pretty fun little ferocious halfling to play. :)

Swash is not really needed; taking 3 rogue levels just for avoiding op. attacks is meh. Go for Mobile instead. With Fighter 16/Ranger 4, you will end up with 7 ASIs and 4 attacks (5 with Horde Breaker).

Would it not be better with 15/5 then and trade the ASI for lvl 2 slots?

That's iffy based on the spell list you are working with and the playstyle of the character. Barksin, silence,Pw/oT, lesser restoration, and spike growth probably the best spells at that level but they are all concentration with the exception of lesser reatoration, so no hunters mark while your are casting them.

A feat is probably gonna be more useful than a few situational spells that u can only use twice per day.

1 level rogue instead of a feat probably wins hands down tho 1 more skill, 2 expertise, thieves tools and 1d6 sneak attack vs 1 feat

From the idea of blender - I would want to work toward the ranger 11 MultiAttack which seems to be a renamed version of the 3.x Whirlwind attack feat.

That does leave you with only 2+1+1 attacks instead of 4+1+1 potentially.

Yeah, but the Extra Attack is redundant, and there's nice offensively on lvl2 Ranger spells (except for archers).

Yeah if you want to dip in rogue, I say go for it. It's fairly strong and seems to fit your theme.

Don't you mean 3+1+1? And sadly whirlwind attack is kinda horrible since you rarely have enough enemies around you to make it good to throw away your extra attacks + getting surrounded is rarely a good idea. :)

Yeah expertise in stealth and perception would be pretty neat.

Could also make the "halfling bludgeoneer" 11 champion / 9 open hand monk, duelist and mariner style, use quarterstaff with polearm master. :)
