Does close quarters shooting fighting style work on spells

Does cqs work with ranged attack spells? I ask because it don't say ranged weapon attack it just say range attack. So with that wording it work with range spells right?

it's UA. it works on whatever the DM that allows you to actually use it will allow it to work on.

As written, it does. It probably shouldn't, and probably won't when and if it's every published? Archery doesn't function with attack spells, dueling doesn't work with shocking grasp, defensive doesn't work with mage armor, etc and so forth. I'm thinking they just forgot to add "weapon" in with the "ranged attack" text, which is the sort of minor gaff a UA article is going to have?

Crossbow Expert does, according to a Sage Advice (or Errata,) so I would assume Close Quarters Shooting would as well. Would make for an interesting thing to use with an Eldritch Knight.

By RAW, yes. It's especially nifty when dipping Fighter 2 on an Eldritch Blast specialist for Action Surge.
