Transmuter spell list?

I am planning on playing an Ultimate Magus (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20061010a&page=3). I also planned on specializing in Transmutation.

Thing is, I don't really know what spells I should take as a transmuter. It seems to be largely based around buffs. Should I be a Conjurer instead?

Conjurer is generally regarded as the strongest specialization, but Transmutation is a close second. Really though, I wouldn't worry too much about what's technically optimal - pick the school that you want to be using the most. Probably sorcerer. Hmm. Cool. Thanks for the link. Shoulda guessed there was a guide to schools of spells.

if you want conjuration and summoning, here is some light reading
personally I believe there is very few problems that cant be fixed with the proper summons
