So, one of my favorite items is the Brooch of Shielding, but unfortunately I almost never see it in use. Players and DMs both gravitate away from Magic Missile pretty early on, especially if you're playing with more than just core books, and the window of opportunity for it being both reasonably buyable/findable as treasure and usable in a campaign is a little narrow. In a world with more Cannith Wand Adepts dual wielding their Magic Missile wands and dropping them like derringers they might see more use, but as it is... well, there's just so many options for enemies for GMs to provide, and so many other ways for players to attack the darkness.

I was wondering if I'd missed any similar items that might be viable at higher levels, though. A sort of Brooch of Invulnerability. Ideally I'd like it to have a similar"Once you use up these hit-points it's used up" thing going for it, but that's admittedly a little wonky.

I'm guessing the answer is no and that I'll have to invent one myself (instead of settling for rods or rings that just grant the effect), but I thought I'd see if the playground had any suggestions for comparable things.

Ahh, very nice. It's definitely a similar-style item, and arguably even more exotic since it's a "death ward" granter more than an "erase hitpoints" granter. Not quite what I had in mind, though definitely something to make note of.

AFB, but there's an item in the MIC (Amulet? Brooch?) that reduces damage from Spells by 1d6 or more depending on the number of charges used. Charges re-set each day.
