He is supposed to be a totally inept level one character who is fairly hard to kill. It is core only 3.5e except for Ultimate Equipment.

Er, is there a question here? I'm not really clear on the purpose of the thread. Do you want opinions on the general concept? Make it more inept? Harder to kill? Come up with a backstory?

I guess you could start by taking the Noncombatant and Pathetic (Strength) flaws for Toughness x2.

I want help making it harder to kill and opinions on the concept.

Good and amusing concept
To make him tougher to kill: sacred vow, vow of nonviolence, vow of peace; attacks with subdual attacks (a further -4 to attack)

Any suggestions from core?

Sadly you can't weild large greatswords at all by raw.

Oh.... *Facepalm. Completely forgot that the size increase would change the category of the weapon... Just make those appropriately sized then.... Although they were Longswords not great swords...

If you don't mind being even more inept: start as Commoner 1, and if you survive to level up, go to Survivor?

If you just want someone who's hard to kill...

You could take this guy, lose a sword, and add some armor and a shield.

Or, if you want it to be strapped for cash, you could give him an 18 wisdom instead, then make him a level one monk.

Or, if you're the DM, start layering on templates.

As suggested your toon is a sitting duck for anything with a will save.

How about making a monk? - good saves all round, AC no worse than your Barbarian and can get better - and totally useless in combat...

Give this hide armor call it a day .

How do you get all the skills with an intelligence of 8 which is a minus 1 to skills

I do not have books but do barbarians get 4 per level?

4-1=3 skills to start

Listen is a wisdom roll big disadvantage way to go! !!

Your longswords attack at -7 and -11, incidentally. To weaken your offensive power, dual wield (-6/-10) heavy crossbows (extra -4 for firing with one hand), for a total to-hit of -7/-11, with the added drawback of having to spend two full-round actions to reload. If your dexterity was lower, you could even be looking at -10/-14 to hit!

Oh! You can dual wield as a monk as well, and flurry at the same time for additional ineptitude!

Well, it depends on what you are looking for. If wasted potential is better than simply sucking at everything, give him an 18 int, and then make his skill list
Craft (brewing)
Craft (glassblowing ale mugs)
Craft (cooking: bar food)
Craft (pewter coasters)
Profession (barkeep)
Perform (kazoo)
Perform (fart jokes)
Handle Animal (but not ride)

Now you have a guy who knows how to do everything possible to set up and run a really bad bar, and who can make his donkey pull the cart, but every time he tries to ride the donkey, he falls off.

Oh, and he could get extra penalties to that dual wielding if he weren't proficient in the weapons. Make him a sorcerer (with a charisma below 11).

He spends two points on handle animal and two on ride.
