@Dante: Eveline sits as silent as she can be in the carriage as the coachman outside whips the horses through the blizzard down the Imperial Highway.
This long stretch of road had been built hundreds of years ago by the Hextorites, specifically, the Ironhelm Family, devoted followers to the Scourge of Hell back in Geoff so that goods- usually in the form of slaves- could be safely transported from the still existent Port City of Bludhaven to the Barony.
Of course, that was hundreds of years ago. The Imperial Highway still exists and is used... as much as it can be used given this terrible snow that has fallen- but it no longer transports men and women for sale.
Merchants and farmers and men with a lot more righteous causes travel the frost ridden roads today.
To think that it took two of Oerth's mightiest cities to topple the Barony...
The Free City of Greyhawk, from where you left a few months ago under the auspices of Karuth Parthinia, High priestess of the Stern Lady in the Free City and uncontested representative of the Ruby Sorceress in this part of the world.
And then there was the City of Halmathan, known colloquially as the City of Power. Home to the Dragon Throne, to which the Airdan family claims sovereignty.
News have been going around the Free City that Halmathan is undergoing some political turmoil, but that is news in the back of your head as you focus on the task at hand and read the letter again as Eveline looks out the window, her face covered by her cloak.
Inquisitor Levasseur,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. As a fellow member of the Inquisition, I have come across your name and been given excellent references from the City of Power.
Your dedication to the Law is as rigorous as that to the Stern Lady, a commendable and worthy trait.
Even though you and I have not met yet, we are both bound to the oaths of our churches to uphold the Law.
And it is sacred law that I believe would interest the Jasidian Order in the Free City.
I have spoken to revered Karuth Parthinia and she has referred me to you. Please meet me in the Duchy of Justcrown. I am aware that you are not traveling alone and have thusly arranged for transportation to pick you up at Bludhaven Port.
Once at the duchy's northern gates, present this letter to the guard and you will be escorted to the compound so we can meet face to face.
Looking forward to our meeting,
High Inquisitor Kalypsia Gastin
A High Inquisitor in Justcrown asks for a Jasidian Inquisitor in the Free City to meet up, referred to by the highest echelons in your church.
This does come as a bit of a surprise.
You have run some check ups on Justcrown.
When the Ironhelm Barony fell, the political turmoil in the leaderless land threatened to escalate and produce yet another war.
It would be a decree signed by the Potssdorff Family, descendants of the famed St. Elrich and followers of the Archpaladin who would be handed the Barony, which would later be turned into a duchy.
It is also known that two major churches were established here.
The church of Pelor, lead by an aging radiant Servant, Father Stragel.
And then there is the church of St. Cuthbert, recently being lead by Inquisitor Kalypisa, who was known for living i the Free City until a year ago.
A woman you never had a chance to meet in such a big metropolis, Inquisitor Kalypsia was known to be one of the top students at the Cuthbertine Academy and is said to have belonged to a special elite force that encompassed not only that church, but many others.
This, of course, is mere hearsay, and is unknown and unspoken by low ranking neophytes.
Probably whispered by the higher ranking members of the churches, but never having reached your ears officially.
But then... why call a Jasidian to Justcrown? Your church is said to have been present during the Hextorite Dominion.
Wee Jas and Hextor have no bad blood between each other... for the most part.
When the Barony fell, all Jasidians were expelled. That was a mutually accorded treaty. The Free City and the City of Halmathan have copies of said treaty and the original is kept in Justcrown...
So why call you?
Then there is the winter.
The Free City is in full spring right now, but the voyage to Bludhaven was met withy icebergs. It got so bad, the ship couldn't weigh anchor at the port, with you and Eveline having to literally walk on ice to reach the pier.
The church of Muoqol, god of trade, The Merchant, with his Tower of Commerce in the city, has its doors shut and frozen. Nobody knows what is happening in this part of the world and why it is so cold, but it may have something to do with the letter you got.
It takes several days, but you finally reach the snow covered gates of Justcrown as a soldier, wearing several furs on him, examines the letter handed to you and a convoy of soldiers- local militia- escort your carriage across the cobblestone streets of Justcrown and its quaint white buildings as people hurry out of the way and shut their windows and doors.
The winds here have increased in strength and the frost is so bad, the trees have a thin patina of ice over them as you stop at a fortified castle with the Cudgel's emblem covered in ice in front and a few guards help you with your bags as Eveline walks out of the carriage and looks yonder, opposite the Cuthbertine Temple and across the ever raining blizzard and remains quiet as she walks beside you as the portcullis is raised and the dimly lit corridors, lined with tapestries depicting warriors of old, dedicated to the Cudgel.
A soldier stops at a grand oak door and sighs before giving a solid knock, with a female's voice commanding from within.
Come in!
The soldier dos a military salute to both and opens the door as he stays outside and you and Eveline walk inside.
The room is circular and rather spacious, with several book shelves lining the room and an elegant rug depicting the city of Justcrown embroidered on it.
A gigantic chandelier gives off vast illumination with over two hundred candles as it hangs from a sturdy chain from the ceiling.
A large window is covered in frost that abrely lets you see anything beyond it, except for the howling winter winds.
A large dark wooden desk sits close to the window and you are greeted by two singular characters:

"Inquisitor Dante Levasseur, thank you for coming to our humble Duchy. I hope transportation from Bludhaven has been safe? There have been news regarding bandit activity on the Imperial Highway as of late. It is becoming a lot more difficult to establish garrisons in the middle of this hellish frost.
I am High Inquisitor Kalypsia Gastin, rep[resentative of the Cidgel in Justcrown...and I welcome you and Lady Eveline Dawn. A Lumi is not commonly seen on Oerth, but i am familiar with such a noble race.""
There is something about this woman... Kalypsia.
You had heard about her exploits and efficiency back in the Free City, but never seen her.
Not until now.
Know. The Planes
It's a silent and much taller figure beside the inquisitor that simply looks at both in utter silence:

A metal man, with grinding gears and jewels for eyes. It does not speak at all. Not even move.
The only indication that it may in fact be mobile are the gears forever grinding within his metal body.
Inquisitor Kalypsia walks up to you and shakes your hand.
"You are welcome to stay in Justcrown, Father Levasseur. Whatever conflict transpired with the hextorites is still being honored today- they are not here...
But it isn't a hextorite that concerns me, but a Jasidian."
