From what I understand, the Chameleon prestige class cannot use any of its features as prerequisites to qualify for anything, so it cannot qualify for the Obtain Familiar feat (which has prerequisites (Knowledge Arcana 4, and Arcane Caster Level 3rd). However, if the PC started off with an arcane spellcasting base class, such as Beguiler, then it would be able to meet these prerequisites. If so, then the Obtain Familiar feat could be taken for the Chameleon's daily floating bonus feat. But since the feat can be changed daily, if the PC switches out the feat, should the familiar "disappear" at the end of the day once the feat is switched? The feat's description is written as "You can obtain a familiar in the same manner as a sorcerer or wizard."

If you have the ability to obtain a sword, obtain the sword, and later lose the ability to obtain a sword, do you still have the sword? RAW, you would keep the familiar. But then again, RAW you are only prohibited from having multiple familiars if you have more than one class that grants a familiar. So this part of the rules is not very well thought out.

Would it be overpowered if a player wanted to take the Obtain Familiar as the bonus feat, but only gain the services of the familiar on days in which they choose the feat? (Actually it may take two days, since it specifies in the feat description that it takes 24 hours to obtain the familiar, so they could take the feat on day 1, and use that time to obtain the familiar, and if they keep the feat through day 2, they can use the familiar for day 2). Or should this feat just be disallowed to be taken in this way?

If you lose the familiar when you choose a different feat it is working as intended.

Although if this should be allowed or not is a matter of preference. Some will say yes other will say no.

Solve this with your own gm

Technically you would keep the Familiar the entire time, however it would lose its caster level based abilities when you untrained the feat. So you would have a Familiar without Share Spells, Evasion, Enpathic Link, or a boosted Intelligence on the days that you didn't have the feat but be able to restore its usefulness the next day.
