Borgan the master of the hunt has gathered ten warriors together at the village’s southern cook fire. The old tracker stands before you, his long spear resting against his slender shoulders, and scans those before him. “Ten of you as the ten fingers of my hands, it is as it should be.” Borgan says according to tradition.
“Two days ago near the brown lake Wastok looked upon the tracks of a lone Iguanodon. It is good it is alone you will have an easier kill. Much meat is to be had from this hunt, it is worth the risk. Beware the spikes thumbs and whipping tail of this great one. Wastok will show you where.” Borgan plants the end of his spear and steps forward proudly, “Go, hunt well.” He says and drops a knotted piece of long grass at his feet.
The huntsman touches his finger tips to his forehead then turns his hand palm out towards the ten of you. As a group you repeat the gesture of good fortune and turn to leave. Each man and woman go to gather what they need for a large hunt. All know from the many previous hunts to prepare quickly and meet at the blessing post.

Ben'ki

Not ever one to need much, Ben'ki always has a few sticks worthy of being torches on him, and some reagents in a small pocket. Leaving the meeting, all Ben'ki needs to do is whistle a high-pitched, almost inaudible by average humans, whistle for his bat to meet him. Together they stand vigilantly by the blessing post, well aware of their duty to spot out the terrain, insuring the most advantageous positioning. Ben'ki takes a moment to reflect on what he knows about iguanodons.

[roll0]

He whispers some words of advice to his bat, telling him what to look out for, what to be wary of, what sort of information he is to retrieve while scouting ahead.

http://www.myjurassicpark.com/iguanodon.html

Iguanodons are large, herbivorous dinosaurs that inhabit swamps and forests where they can take advantage of abundant vegetation. The iguanodon is capable of moving on two feet or on four, quickly switching from one stance to the other, depending on whether it needs to move through dense foliage or to reach delectable morsels hanging up in the canopy.
Although iguanodons are herbivores, they are notoriously quick to anger. Their thumb spikes make their claws particularly devastating weapons—a well-placed blow from one of these claws can turn a hungry predator into a cowering beast with one swift strike. Iguanodons are 30 feet long and weigh 6,000 pounds.

Marr

Marr wasn't sure how she got roped into this meeting, looking back it probably had something to do with her game of 'stalk the Man' a game that she was fairly good at.

Standing a little bit behind her adoptive sister and with her Wuff laying down besides her, Marr listened to the Master of the hunt.

The idea of going up against a huge dinosaur didn't sit well with Marr, its very hard to kill something if you can't reach for its neck. She furrowed her brow and scanned the other assembled hunters with her eyes. who were they are they good? are they strong?? She reconsidered, "many in the pack, one prey" the girl grinned as images of herself climbing onto the beast while stabbing at its jugular filled her mind, Danger, Blood and Glory. "It will be good hunt, will be fun" gently wagging her non existent tail from side to side trying to contain her excitement.

She'll only need to gather a few things... some rope... her waterskin... Wuff's saddlebags... She'll gather these things quietly and quickly worried that her elders would stop her from participating in the hunt if they found out.

That didn't sound too bad. Shog was sure they could handle it, hopefully with minimal injuries. He went off to say good bye to Pas and his parents. He collects a few items but there wasn't much for him to grab, he always carried his axe and wore his armor most of the time so really all there was to do was grab a few sling stones and a bit of food. Thinking about it, he felt the most worried about the tail. It sounded like it might be able to attack everyone quickly with that and while Shog was sure he would be ok that sounded like it could seriously hurt the others. He mentally noted to himself to watch for that as he made his way to the meeting place.

Regnus is waiting at the blessing post readying himself for the the ritual. Chanting softly he takes several pinches of powder from a pouch around his neck and sprinkles it into his palm. Next he spits into his hand and mixes it with his finger. He then holds his hand over the flame of a torch the has thrust into the ground nearby. His hand does not burn but the mixture on his palm boils away in a puff of steam.
With his thumb Regnus rubs a bit of the remaining ash in his palm onto each of your foreheads. Muttering again he raises his hands to the sky then brings them down to clap loudly onto his thighs. He then turns and touches the top of the blessing post.
Oddly, instead of offering the hunters luck or encouragement as he often does after a blessing, Regnus simply turns and walks off without a word.

The ten of you depart to the south soon after, as you head towards the brown lake.

As the others started to rush at the snake, Ben'ki takes his time. He starts walking towards the snake, not in any great hurry. As he walks, he reaches into a pocket and grabs a small pouch of various powders and reagents picked from different pollens, molds, and some animal fats and drops the arrangement into the flame on his torch. The flame begins to burn hotter and fiercer. Taking another deep breath in, he whistles two short tones to the air, warning his bat to watch and be on the ready but not to necessarily attack.

Ben'ki

As the others have, again, taken the initiative on this battle, Ben'ki continues to almost leisurely stroll towards the snake. He doesn't bother circling around the long way either, electing instead to leap and bound around the others, spinning in the air and across the ground to circle around behind the snake to take advantage of their positioning.

Acro- to move through threatened squares without provoking AOO [roll0]

If he fails and the snake manages to hit, Acro- again to use Roll With It [roll1] and roll that far around to being in the position behind the snake he wanted anyways (unless the damage is too high and he has to end up bouncing off to a non-flanking position, but I doubt the snake can do that)

Rest of the post assumes the snake doesn't get an AOO, misses, or doesn't do enough damage to throw him far away.

After nimbly making his way to position, Ben'ki thrusts his torch deep into the belly of the snake, hoping to burn and char it!

Instead of striking out at it's attackers, the injured snake begins to desperately crawl into a hole at the base of the tree. It only gets part way in as the last blows are raining down on it. The snake turns into it's back and begins to writhe.

With another high pitched whistle, Ben'ki calls his bat down to him. A hushed whisper later and the bat is making it's way down the hole, slowly crawling in and using it's blindsense to feel out the contents of the whole.

Not sure you even have to use perception to use blindsense, as it's just like seeing for them. But for a good scope of the hole, or to see if it's longer/deeper than 40 feet and thus meaning the bat has to actually climb down:

Perception [roll0]

If the bat communicates back that there is stuff down the hole that isn't alive, Ben'ki takes a second to mess with a large knot on his back, almost like popping a zit. A disgusting, bulbous blob of pus and blood comes squeezing out in the abhorrently-remarkable shape of a monkey. Ben'ki sets the monkey down near the hole and watches as it scurries down.

The tumor familiar is empathically told the desire to fetch anything it can from down the hole and bring it back up to the party. If there's something living down the hole, though, that the bat was able to sense, instead it is going down quietly and safely to scout out and come back to report on it.

The Iguanodon's tracks are found and a search of the area reveals only the one animal. Your party tracks it all the rest of the day and into the next. Around midday you find your prey, catching sight of it from atop a ridge.
The Iguanodon is walking through a small creek and eating the blooms off the bushes that grow along the water. There are some recently healed wounds on it's flanks and neck, injuries that no doubt led to it being left behind by its herd.
It continues to follow the stream oblivious to the party of hunters following it.

It is about 300 feet away and moving slowly. The ridge you are on slopes down steeply, but not overly so. There is a bend in the creek about her 100 feet up stream. The bend is to the left, the same side you are on. It seems likely that if you guys go over the ridge while he goes around you maybe able to cut it off.

Gillian rides on ahead leaving the rest of you behind, are you following her or the beast?

You beleave you have kept down wind as you cross over the ridge. On the other side things level off a bit and the stream bed gets a little wider. The water bends back the other way, to the right, about 200 feet upstream. You see no sign of other great ones from here.
If you wish to explore the next bend you would have to either cross the stream, leaving your sent to warn your prey, or take to long way around. The Iguanodon is moving slow, but not that slow, you don't think you have the time.

Marr is intending to keep a respectable distance from the massive prey. it depends on the thoughts of the rest of the group but her plan atleast is to follow the beast and wait till it settles in somewhere for the night.

From Marr's understanding Gillian is merely riding ahead to make sure this course of action won't allow the prey a chance to catch up to a herd or something along those lines.

The Iguanodon continues along at a relaxed pace untill it gets to Gillian's ropes. It stops there and begins moving from one side to the next. Finding more rope in either direction the great one begins grunting and pacing back and forth. It even makes a few complete turns around but hasn't yet tried to go back the way it came. Hamste

Stabbing it in its sleep is probably the best course of action as it seems to be by itself. If we have to fight we would want to get as close as possible to it. Something that big has a massive advantage in reach and if we aren't close enough when we attack someone might get injured just closing in for an attack. If it gets close to the ridge we could also just release a hail of stones onto it from above. I doubt it could charge straight up the ridge and if we made the ridge muddy somehow it would probably have trouble climbing it at all.
Shog suggests looking down at the large beast. It would be difficult to kill it with no injuries. It would take careful planning and well thought out tactics to keep it from getting an attack in.

The hunting party tracks the Iguanodon through the day and into early night. The trail leads into a large patch of giant ferns, nearly twice as tall as a man, the perfect place for an animal of that size to bed down for the night.

no need for a check here There is enough experienced hunters here to know that this is a likely place to find your prey. You don't know for sure however. What's your plans? Send in a scout, to confirm it's there? Do something else? Let me know and I'll give you any needed DCs

As the group draws closer to a place where their prey might settle down for the night Marr will perk up. "Marr and Wuff will sneak up. and take a look, if it is already sleeping Marr will try to stab it in the neck so keep your ears open and come fast if you hear loud noise... If it wakes still Marr will stalk back to the group and report"

She gives the group a determined look and makes a 'ttk tkk' sound to Wuff as the two of them start to disappear into the under brush.

Make a knowledge nature check

She makes her way into the center of the ferns and hears the heavy breathing of the Iguanodon. She finds it lying on a bed of crushed down ferns. It appears to be deep in sleep.

Marr

Having spotted the sleeping giant Marr briefly wondered if this really was a good idea, shook the doubt from herself and slowly crept back to the group.

Emerging from the underbrush she'll speak in a quiet voice "Okay, I've found the prey, its asleep. I'll take you all as close as is safe to not rouse it from its slumber, but you'll have to be quiet" a serious look on the girls face.

"Come now. Its time" with a hint of worry she grins.

Leaving the hunting party at a respectable distance of 250ftish the wolfgirl took one last deep breath to steel herself for the task at hand. Leaving Wuff to stay behind with the rest of the hunters she once again starts to creep closer towards the sleeping dino, Carefully placing her feet every step of the way.

If she makes it close enough to find the beasts neck she'll look for a nice spot along the cervical spine once again take a slow and deep breath. ready to plunge the obsidian dagger deep into the creatures nervous system. She'll have to strike hard and fast... forcing her hand together with the dagger into the wound and press even harder and deeper. hopefully cause enough trauma to the creature that it instantly dies.

If this fails, she's in for some risky dancing.

Marr slips silently through the ferns towards her prey. Once again getting just the slightest hint of a sent. It is familiar to her, at the same time nothing she has even smelled before. The odor is gone as quickly as it came, and Marr refocuses on her target.
She creeps up next to the sleeping beast dagger in hand. Just then a shiver runs down the entire length of its massive body. Marr holds her breath nervously and wait just a moment to insure the animal is not waking up. Then satisfied that it is still sleeping moves in for the kill.

Move action to move back towards the hunting party for 30ft.

The three of you and two others, Gorn and Rassar are talking your half of the nights watch. The wind has every tree and plant moving making it hard to spot anything. That and sounds of the rain and thunder drown out all other sounds.
