So Metamind and a few other prestige classes make you count your manifester level of a class as one higher for the purpose of power points and powers known. What happens when you level up with that class? And what happens if you use Metamind to make your manifester level 20 before you reach there with your class levels? Can you level up further and gain more powers or just get your saves and base attack bonuses?

Do you mean the PF version? Because the 3.5 version only advances your PP and powers known on even levels:

At every even-numbered level, a metamind gains additional power points per day and access to new powers as if he had also gained a level in whatever manifesting class he belonged to before he added the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained (bonus feats, metapsionic or item creation feats, and so on).

As for what this means, it basically means that half of your metamind levels are considered to be levels in your base class (usually psion) when calculating those things. So a Psion 10/Metamind 10 would have ML 15, 195 base PP, and 28 powers known.

A Pathfinder MetaMind advances PP at every level and advances Manifester level Powers Known and Maximum Power Level 2nd,3rd,4th,6th7th,8thand 10th level.
So a pathfinder psion 10 metamind 10 would have a manifester level of 17 and know the same number and level of powers as a 17th level psion and would have the same number of PP as a 20th level psion plus any gained from metamind class features
