View Full Version : Songs that could be used to improve Azure City's morale.

While Elan certainly isn't smart enough to think of any of these songs, they could be used to raise morale among Azure City's defenders. The list is below.

1. "We Are the Champions" by Queen (one of the most paladin appropriate songs of modern times.)
2. "Chariots of Fire by Vangelis" (same reason as "We Are the Champions". True, the vast majority of Azure City’s defenders aren't paladins but they did have the Sapphire Guard and they still have Hinjo.)
3. "We Will Rock You" by Queen.
4. "The Baron Dies and Lives Again" (See "We Are the Champions" and "Chariots of Fire".)

Any other ideas?

"Run to the hills" by Iron Maiden:smallbiggrin:
Seriously though, "Warriors Of The World United" by Manowar. Basically anything by Manowar.

I've always thought of that as the ultimate Paladin song. Seriously, if I could run a Paladin/Bard (grumble, Lawful Good and non-lawful) I would absolutely sing this song 24/7.

I think Blitzkrieg by Metallica would be perfect for a counterattack.

1st edition bards could Lawful. Sadly they had to be at least partial Neutral. On the other hand I'd let you play a Lawful Good bard in 3rd or 3.5 edition if you really wanted to.

I don't think they are feeling like "champions" much...
And "We Will Rock You" was already used in Knight Tale. No kidding! XD

Maybe 'Brothers In Arms' would be more appropriate for how they're feeling right now....

"Hardware Store" by Weird Al.
Why?
I don't know. It's funny.

Maybe if Elan had a band with him... I don't think that lone banjo will cut it.

I actually think the perfect paladin/bard song, and a song that could have really pumped up Azure City's defenders, is "Holy Thunderforce" by Rhapsody of Fire

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mqm-ystzPGY&mode=related&search=

"Face me evil bastard, smell the hate of angels
Glory, pride and bloodshed!"

They will feel like "Champions" if they do win. Besides, this is supposed to be a rallying song.

"Disposable Heroes" by Metallica :smalltongue:

And, of course, "Freebird." Everyone loves "Freebird!"

For those with a taste for heavier music, may I suggest:

Ten Thousand Fists by Disturbed

What Drives the Weak by Shadows Fall

I Don't Wanna Stop by Ozzy Osbourne

I'll Stick Around by Foo Fighters

And for 80's music fans:

Right Now by Van Halen

Ride the Wind by Poison

Paradise City by Guns 'n Roses (Okay, maybe AC isn't a paradise at the moment, but the song does say 'won't you please take me home' and I'm pretty sure that's where most of them would like to be right now)

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

The words fit but I don't much like the song overall.

The good news? There's a feat for paladin/bards.

Rettu says;

Morning of Our Lives by Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers
Heaven's Gonna Burn Your Eyes by Thievery Corporation

Something Rettu wrote From Boredom.

I've heard its been said,
Azure city is dead,
No need to have fears about that!
Though the goblins are here,
With a sword and a spear,
And they certainly don't want to chat.
Now your cornered at last,
Time for running has past,
Take heart, and raise up your head,
Charge through their foul ranks,
Tell them; Zombies? no thanks,
And help make those goblins feel dread.

Ballad of Steve, the level 2 guard/bard, published post-humously.

Heeding the call, Stronger then all, Back to back, Legacy of kings, Let the hammer fall, when the dragon lies bleeding, templars of steel - All by Hammerfall.. seriosly i could go on all year...

The chorus of heeding the call, just as an example:

Heeding the the call, one and for all,
Never surrender with glory we fall.
Brothers unite lets stand up and fight
Fulfilling our fate we are heeding the call.

If you have CAdv, you actually can have a lawful bard with paladin levels, but it requires a feat. Also, I think I've got one. Just give me a moment to get a link. Keep Holding On, by Avril Lavigne (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feaFoIzV9s4&mode=related&search=), with the video summoned via Summon Song Exposition (Or the equivelent).

You just can't gain any new levels in Bard if you're lawful, you need to shift align at least temporarily -- but it's not like you lose any class abilities. On the other hand, once you get your first Paladin level you need to stick there all the way.

In other words, there's no problem with mixing Bard and Paladin, you just need to take all Bard levels first.

Nah the best and most fitting would be:

Just imagine the look on the goblin faces when they start to whistle ;)

Elan is the master of improv (or so I think) so hes gonna write the song. THe thing is, though, good luck improving the morale of 100 soldiers to defeat 250,000 soldiers (exhaggeration, I know!)

WAIT!! I just thought: that song MUST be written by Wierd Al Yankovic

The feat for paladin/bards is Devoted Performer. It lets you stack levels for number of bard songs and damage from holy smite. And lets you continue to gain levels in each class. Have to remain Lawful Good though.

And Weird Al's "the Saga Begins" would be good for Azure City. Times like these you gotta laugh at adversity...

Iron Man by Black Sabbath - just for Elan to go "I AM IRON MAN!" and cast Rage on himself.

Call to Arms by Manowar - great lyrics

"I Now Issue The Call Are You Ready To Fight
Fight All Together As One For The Right To Be Free Once Again
Tonight We Will Win"

And for the two nameless mooks - Body Breakdown by Dragonforce

"Stand here with me for we will live forever/tonight we stand and face it all"

As long as someone's bringing up Tom Petty, how about Freefallin. It's kind of a mournful but very uplifting song, which is sort of appropriate for AC right now. Also, I just love that song.

"The Final Countdown" - Europe

Oh hell yes.

And of course, the one song that always cheers me up, no matter what: Ievan Polka.
