*waves nervously*

Hiya, I'm Thurnis.

Long time OOTS and Erf reader and ardent lover of all things RPG.

I'm a writer and a story teller at heart, but I never seem to see many projects through to completion.

I love D&D, but I have my misgivings about 4th edition, so I stick to 3.5.

I like Firefly (<3 Kaylee), WoW, and mile long walks where I plan out stories in my head then forget about them.

Hello to all! They call me... Ivan Ooze! I've been a reader of both OoTS and Erfworld for a while now, but I've only just made an account now for various reasons, the foremost of which being that I just got into D&D after playing WH40k and Inquisitor for some time.

Ivan Ooze...the Power Rangers villain?
You have won my respect.

Haiyo!

I finally just sat down and read all of oots the last few days, though I think I started and read random ones more than a few times. I go by a lot of things, but today I'm going by Mokona, so I guess that'll stick for today. Though Jakin works best, so I guess you can call me that! Woot! So, I'm all into the Dn'D thing, though I finally get to pwn those n00bs as DM. Kthnx!

It most certainly is.

Welcome to you! And you! And you! And you! And even you! But not you, no. Absolutely not.

Anway...I think the point I'm trying to get across here is: welcome to all of you (except you...you know who you are)! :smalltongue:

Gaaaw.

And yes, upon reflection, it does seem a bit odd welcoming someone into the playground when I've been here for all of...less than three weeks, actually.

\/ I'm a firm believer in shock-and-awe tactics. Yes, especially in social situations.

Hey, I'm Tharivole. I'm new to the forums, but not to the Order of the Stick or Dungeons and Dragons. I've read all the Order of the Stick comics and I'm running a DnD campaign right now. I'm the DM. The party's 5th lvl and just finished a trap dungeon made by a sadistic wizard who's supposedly been dead for 10 years, but, strangely, every time someone dies in the dungeon, when the party comes back, a bronze memorial plaque pops up next to where the person died. If you want to find out more, I probably will make a forum.

hello to all, I found this place to be very interactive and appealing for introducing scrapping as form of craft as this place is filled with similar ideas of arts and crafts. Each of its forums is distinct in itself to cater the broader spectrum of scrap booking at this place. *Copypasting a mistake*

Hello everyone. I finally decided to get rid of my lurker status and join the forums, so here's a little post to break the ice and introduce myself. =)

I stumbled on the OotS comic by pure chance, a few months ago. Started reading it from the start, found it great, kept reading onwards. Being not a D&D player, I did a few searches and used logic to get the D&D jokes. Then came a time where I got through the whole archive (That ended up at Elan, Durkon and co. fleeing from the Orc tribe), So I've started to wait patiently for the next strip, and the next, and the next. Then I started reading the chattering and the theories that were threw up on the boards. It stayed like this until two days ago, where I registered and started posting a few things.

I find D&D particularly interesting, and would be interested in learning how it all works, maybe playing a few campaigns over the net. So I would appreciate it if someone could help me out with that, I don't know, offer to initiate me to D&D, or link to some great stuff to read and learn, I would really love that. I don't bite, no worries .

I'll wish everybody an happy not-so-new year, and a nice day on top of that =P.

Which sort of things are you interrested in finding out about, Lee? There are a lot of play-by-post games on this website, Arctic, so finding a game shouldn't be that hard (a chat room would be better for learning how to play, though).

Arctic
2009-01-17, 10:36 AM
Yeah, I've seen multiple play-by-post games, but I don't think that randomly joining one without knowing how to play properly is viable =P. On the other hand, I haven't seen such thing as a chat room yet. Is there a GitP IRC, or something alike around?

http://www.gabbly.com/www.giantitp.com is the closest, but hardly anyone uses it now sadly. http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page is great for the 3.5 Edition rules (the 4th Edition rules can't be shown for free in their entirety online), http://crystalkeep.com/d20/ will give you more options for everything except for Prestige Classes (it only mentions the first 2 levels), and http://invisiblecastle.com/ is good for dice rolls.

Where did this Survival Kit buisness come from anyway?

I created the survival kit as an way to help other forumites survive the debates and insanity.

Reasons for items:
Fire extinguisher: protection from flames
cookies: who doesn't like cookies?
common sense: in case there is insanity in the forum
brain acid: in case of disturbing mental images
manual for forum rules: a must read for any member.
anti-glomp armor: in case of people with intent to glomp (for Australians)
anti-sarcasm detector: finds source of sarcasm in threads, best used with common sense

Anyway, welcome kelliegoodlin

Pulling on thin leather gloves, Soul promptly touches the "Post Reply" button and dive-rolls into the thread as the loading screen closes from behind, "Dear God I almost didn't make it."

Glancing about in what could either be described as a paranoid search or a very thorough look-see of the room, Soul finally straightens and offers a wry smile to the poor souls that might have been startled by this abrupt apearance, "To be completely honest, it took me a while to find that button. Now that I'm here, I'll be a little more open about my love for OotS. The gloves stay on until I determine if there are cooties." An insistent nod punctuates the end of that sentence very much like the period at the end of this one.

Greetings, GitPG Forum! I am istar (though I really would like it changed to 'Istar', for the capital 'I'). I stumbled upon this website while googling a d20 Bleach system, and found the thread by Void in the Homebrew section (great thread by the way, and equally interesting system, though I'm relatively new to tabletop RPing and know more about 4e than the earlier systems).

I joined mostly because I was interested in the ideas I could get for creating a 4e-based system to use in creating my own tabletop game, but I couldn't help but notice you have an RP section too.

I'm known across the play-by-post universe as Istar, Istar_Magus, and (to a much lesser extent) Zahariel. I'm an RP moderator for www.giveupalready.com, and Forum Admin on www.newdestrona.net. I've been a forum-based roleplayer for nearly 5 years, and was 3rd place in the net-wide Tournament of Legends hosted by GiveUpAlready. I'm a free-form RPer, but my recent dabbling in table-top has given me a taste of structured roleplaying systems.

GB weel is a direct result of the yearly migration of cooties. They leave their female hosts for just one week, traveling far and wide, infecting all those they make contact with. The men find their masculinity removed, reverting to primal instincts, lusting after shoes, bows and dresses. Women on the other hand, find themselves unable to get pleasure from that which they know, and revert to masculine past times, such as rugby and "lets hit each other with sticks: the game" (an interessting game, where two teams of players hit each other with sticks til one person wins. That person scores 8 points and becomes the "Black shadow" for 12 hours). After a brief travel, the cooties return to their original hosts, and balance is restored. Occasionally however, a few cooties may refuse to leave for several weeks there after - this results in feminine behaviour in males, including a strange desire for shoes and arm pit hair of >9000 cm in women.

(note: all of the above should be read tongue in cheek)

Oh and Hi and stuff. Dont try to leave, I locked the gate.

Lesse, I started reading OOTS about two years ago, and just recently learned that hey, this site has more then just the now two amazing comics available!

I'm a roleplayer at heart, and the idea of organised PbP roleplay excites me. I've always wanted to get in to tabletop to some degree, but there's only really one person in my immediate area I would do that with, and he lets the powers of DM get to him...

As a roleplayer, I started up on Neverwinter Nights, and still play there regularly. Wooh three years of it now! I play every kind of character my mind can produce. My main, Rico, will take some time to fashion in to the systems here, so I won't be playing him (It's for your own safety)

Hi all old and new members!
I've been reading OOTS for some time now. I first heard of it somewhere in late 2007, but I started to read it regularly only from November.
Unfortunately, since I read all the old issues, I have to wait for every new issue like the rest of you guys...

I think Redcloak is my favorite character.

Hiya.

I've been reading the comic for a good long while now and I figured I might as well post on the forum while I am here.

Though I must admit, reading OOTS has been interesting since I know pretty much nothing about how D&D works or any of it's rules.

Uh, hi there. New member.

I'm an OotS fan - quite predictably. Kindly forgive my English if at times it will sound somewhat Vaarsuvian and terribly British - it's mostly book-learned. Also, for some weird reason, when I read the rules my brain kept scrambling "infraction" and perceiving it as "infarction", which made the whole points system look more than a little eerie.

Well, I guess that's enough of an introduction. Glad to meed you all.

Rowan:

Boy, fourth edition, huh? I loved how they streamlined the rules. Much simpler in the heat of battle.

And the new flavor! Awesome, right? Really gives a nice feeling of reinvention to the series.

And the alignment system! Boy, I...

I...

Okay, I can't even be mock enthusiastic about the alignment system. There may not actually be enough sarcasm in North America. At the very least, I think I'd sprain something.

Going by the rules of D&D, the intellect of 4 in your signature equates to a -3 modifier, but you are smarter than that.

It's like this.

Assuming you're not some crazy voodoo race that gives you an INT bonus, you start out with anywhere from 3 to 18 intelligence.

3 is critically retarded. 18 is supra-genius. Most people fall at about 10-11.

Hey everybody, this looks like a good place to introduce myself.

My name is Nick, feel free to call me by it. I also accept "hey you!" and "what'syername".

I started playing D&D at a young age, and have been hooked on 3.5 ever since. My favorite class is Bard, and my favorite spell is Explosive Ruins. And yes, I have used V's "I prepared explosive ruins this morning" gag in my own campaigns!

That seems to be all that needs to be said at the moment, but I look forward to learning more about you all, and talking with you. Have a good one, and see you on the forums!
