I'm going to be DMing for a group of new players, one being my younger brother and two others who are friends of mine. One decided to be a half-elf paladin after skimming the player's handbook and wanted more material on advice as to how to make and play one effectively in addition to more basic information summarized for him (as he can't be bothered to read the whole class page, apparently).

Anyone have any such advice or suggestions on playing or making paladins or links to any paladin guides?

I'm also on the lookout for any rogue guides a beginner could use for my other friend who'll be playing (they inquired and wanted more material as well, they've looked more intently into the handbook but want more information too).

Unwilling to read a whole 3-4 pages from a book. Instead asks for optimization guide (which, while intended as summarization, are often much longer to read...).

Well, okay. To each his own I guess:
Here's one guide for Paladins (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?375696-Good-is-Not-Nice-A-Paladin-s-Guide) and here's one guide for Rogues (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?474974-A-Thousand-Lies-and-a-Good-Disguise-A-Rogue-Guide).

I'd suggest reading any and all guides from the internet with a grain of salt. Some of them are filled with more or less personal bias. (The paladin guide is quite decent, but with the rogue guide I am torn; I disagree with quite a bunch of analysis all over the place, and I find it a bit 'unfair' to not include the less-than-optimal races (such as dwarves) just because they don't support dexterity as much as the others).

Thanks for the links. I agree, the rogue guide looks like it needs some tuning for advice on less orthodox builds for the class.
